I like the DIY vice & trimmer. Just need to pick up a drill press.

Thanks for keeping it simple and affordable. That’s a part of why we reload in the first place !

Good idea. Two things I would change. I would have less angle on the blade and I would cut the blade off with a cut off wheel so that it barely sticks out like a 1/16-in. Less chance of ending up in the emergency room. Haha

I still use that same one never had to change the blade and it still sticking out that far. lol

Thanks for keeping it simple while also motorized. I almost bought one of those $85 trimmers. Now I can put that $ towards a roll crimper unless you have a DIY video on that too. lol
@maxxbear50147 ай бұрын
No I don’t have a roll crimper. Lol but I do like the royal crimper’s from precision the best.

Good job Max. I made a jig to shorten them using my scroll saw.

How do you "pound" the blade into the broom stick?...great idea, thanks for sharing.
@maxxbear50143 жыл бұрын
Hi John, It’s a utility knife blade I break off the tip with a pair of pliers then I hold it with a pair of pointy nose pliers and tapping in with a hammer about a 1/4” deep.
@jforo32819483 жыл бұрын
I think I got it? So you pond the small broken piece? Thanks for your response. BTW brilliant idea and I'll have to make the hand vise as well.👍
@carfvallrightsreservedwith6649 Жыл бұрын
Yep. He drives the tip of broken piece into wood using the snapped off edge as the striking surface. The guard not only prevents you from shredding your digits but should also deflect that slicer from flinging in God knows which direction. Nice device. Holders too.

Great fixture. Can you tell me how to attach the blade to the wooden treamer? Also, the blade seems to be different from a cutter blade, what kind of blade do you use?
@maxxbear50142 жыл бұрын
All I did was grab the end of a utility knife blade with a pair of pliers and snap the tip off then I lined it up and tapped it in with a little hammer into the wood

When shortening the hull. Does that screw with the center of the crimp? I am new to reloading hulls.
@maxxbear50143 жыл бұрын
If you are loading for shotshell... then no I mainly trim so I can roll crimp for slugs I use hard wads and nitro cards.

I'm sure that I'm missing something here, but how do you crimp your shells once you've chopped off that much of the hull?
@maxxbear5014 Жыл бұрын
I roll crib with an over shot card or if I’m fold crimping I have a cut down lee load all I have a video on it just search my channel you should be able to find it thanks for watching the video
@Gunners_Mate_Guns Жыл бұрын
Okay, that makes sense now. I assume this would also make loading slugs a bit easier, given that those are usually roll crimped.
@sluggou812beotch3 жыл бұрын
Ya I'll build one o them.
