Today at Alf's Mustang Garage, we replace the power steering pump on a 67 Ford Mustang. We also show you how to remove the power steering pump pulley, bracket, and then the pump from the case. At the end, before I start the engine, I purge the system and I show you that process.

My 67 pump has 235,000 miles on it and still working find, I've had this cougar for 47 years, i hope I'm not to old to do the repair one day, thanks

hello for future reference the pump case has a notch on the front lip and the face of the pump has an indent. you line those 2 up for perfect alignment

awesome video, I was hoping it would be a similar set up to my 65, but nope. Trying to see where/how the bracket fits - holes don't line up on my dry fit trial

I have a 67 coupe. It’s missing a pump and bracket. Is there an upgrade or a goo place to get one

Well for a pump, I have learned it easier to deal locally. You order things like that online and its more of a hassle to return them if there is an issue. I've got my last few pumps from AutoZone and haven't had an issue. As far as the bracket goes, I would get it from National Parts Depot.

hello! I was wondering if you could post a video showing how you run the power steering hose from the pump down to the box. I had my '67 Mustang for a few years and recently, I ran into an issue when the hose decided to run up against the manifold and it started burning through the hose and it caused fluid to shoot everywhere. I can't seem to figure out a "route" so that way the hose doesn't hit against anything that will damage it. Great video btw! Definitely will subscribe!

I'll see what I can do. What engine are you running? The route for small blocks are different than big blocks. I do have some footage I could throw together for the small block 289.

I can't remember. Would probably be different for a FE engine anyways.

How did you get the ps belt back on?

the belt slips over the ps pulley, the crank pulley, and water pump pulley. You then pivot the power steering pump over with a prybar and tighten it down to make it tight.
