Powerstone was the first Dreamcast game I saw in action back in the summer of 1999. I couldn't believe how good the graphics looked and how smooth the gameplay was. It was arcade-quality graphics in a console and I was blown away. It totally killed PS1 and N64 graphics that never really looked that good even back then but that's all that was out there besides arcades. With the Dreamcast you could finally have all of these awesome arcade perfect games on a console!

SAME THING WITH ME HAHAHA! i originally wanted n64 for 007 goldeneye in 99 but then i walked in this mall we have in Ny brooklyn called kings plaza and i saw it on demonstration . the controller was broken. when i saw it my JAW dropped not only cause of graphics but because of the type of fighting game like that never existed before!

I still have that game for the dreamcast. That's why I like this channel. You guys cover a variety of old school games and some modern. You guys are a true gaming channel.

Power Stone 3 should come out. But I liked the second one but the first one more. I liked the mario party feel of the second one but i didnt like that they simplified the attacks. There were move sets and button combos taken out from the second that were in the first.

God I love Power Stone, when I got my DC it was the 2nd game I picked up for it and it was amazing. I am one of those people who enjoys PS2 over PS1, I loved the chaos in the levels and it never really bothered me that it was turned into more of a button masher. Capcom needs to release a PS3 but its unfortunate that I doubt they will because I have a feeling they dont feel it will sell well enough. Power stone 3 with 2-4 player online? We can dream.

Power Stone is indeed one of the best fighters of all time! I remember it fondly as one of the first games I got for my Dreamcast when it came out and still have a copy to this day. I still play Power Stone Collection on my PSP and it's enjoyable today as it was on the DC.
@MyCodenameIsIan10 жыл бұрын
I still think a Capcom Allstar version of Powerstone would be awesome. Imagine Megaman, Strider, Ryu, Arthur, Dante, Morrigan, Jill e.t.c. all squaring off in Capcom themed arenas littered with Capcom themed weapons set to the beat of Guile's theme.

There is a kickstarter campaign for a game called Combat Core that seems to be a homage to powerstone.

Great review guys as always! I love these reviews that you guys do together, so much enthusiasm! Gotta say I've never even heard of these games, but now I really have to hunt down the PSP collection o/

So I found a small arcade and spent hours playing Power Stone for the first time. I had grown up on Street Fighter but Power Stone kind of gave me the same impression when I played it. I talked about how amazing it was for a long ass time until I finally got it for Dreamcast the day it came out. Ahh..

I've had this game for two years or so...so I have a great night partying with a mate and we crashed at mine, I put this game on saying 'Ive heard this is a real good game, been meaning to play it'....5 mins later we were shouting our heads off having a blast and most of my mate said ' for a game of this era its doing things fighter games dont do these days' It was a proud moment, oh and for the record my mate always kanes me on multiplayer stuff.... we played 10 rounds and I won 9 of em.... that moment I realised what a disgustingly good game this is!!

Had a ton of fun last night just playing it 1 player on my Dreamcast. I might wanna do it on PSP if I do one player, but the dreamcast controller is so great!

Dreamcast was an awsome console, I wish it would of had more of a fighting chance back in the day.
@shinny_grimmy11 жыл бұрын
I just played the first one and let me tell you; this is hands down one of the best fighters I've ever played, if not the best. It is fun as hell, has a beautiful art style and the simplistic controls make it easy to get into. God, this game's awesome!
@silverwings2115 жыл бұрын
This was the 1st Dreamcast game I rented. Easily the best 3d fighting game made. I like that you didn't have to learn complex combos to be good at the game, It was more, like you said, using the environment as a weapon, & it was a race to get the 3 power stones before the other guy.

@DanielBMS Does it stand the test of time ? i haven't seen it in years, but i remember liking it just fine when i was like ten or whatever and it was still on the air : ]

sry to say but power stone 2 was way better than 1, the item creation alone was so much fun
@gaupau5 жыл бұрын
Power stone 1 is a lot better. Power stone 2 oversimplified the gameplay and over reliance on items. Gimmicky stages as well. Its 4-player though so its worth owning for that alone. Very fun.
@gilmancha873910 жыл бұрын
I loved Power Stone 1, and only rented 2 a few times, so I'd call myself more of a fan of the first. PS Collection was on sale on PSN for $5 bucks last year, totally worth it. I can play it on my Vita; the load times aren't' that bad once you load PS1 (can't really confirm PS2 load times yet).

@DanielBMS there is a dvd version with all 26 episodes?!?!?! I want it! I was looking for something like that. even if its an US version and I can only watch it on my pc. I want it. and when I got a ps3 it will be able to read NTSC anyway

I Hated the First "Power Stone" because it is similar to Koei's "Destrega" which came out the same year for the PS1 but a few months earlier. "Power Stone 2" is so much better because it has more people to play. I remember playing it with my Older Brother and 2 of our friends and we just went nuts for Months. 2000-2001 Good Times.... "Power Stone 3" should be made ASAP for Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, & Hopefully SEGA makes a Console Comeback and a New Console from another Company

Hey Mr. HappyConsoleGamer. I just discovered you, and subscribed, today. I watched your Street Fighter Tales story and the Las Vegas part hit me. When I was around that age, my parents took me to Reno (I can't remember if you said Las Vegas or Reno) and, obviously, I couldn't gamble either. Well, I got tired of staring at the wall which is seriously what they made me do if I was in any room with slot machines or any other form of gambling.

Haha, how fitting that this was shown on my b-day. Personally, I loved Power Stone 1 and I remember having your view of Power Stone 2 again...but after I played it for a while..I ended up loving it even more than the original...The more chaos means the more you have to pay attention to your surroundings and your opponents which I believe you can still strategize for. Unfortunately, my ex somehow messed with the laser pointer on my Dreamcast and now the discs won't spin to play. :(

Great to see another episode just wish you could do more! One thing you didn't really go into was the VMU side of things as there were some pretty decent extra's to carry about on that screen.

Yeah, they should also just bring it back as a console game! There is so much going for this unique game series that it is mind-boggling they have not continued making games. People nowadays would eat this shit up if they stayed true and didn't stray too far from the gameplay style! This shit NEEDS to come back. FAST!

Great video. I remember playing this game when it first came out. Fantastic game. How well did the PSP version sell? My guess is that Sega was testing the waters to see if a Powerstone 3 was viable via the interest the game received.

@ first comments of the reviewers: The super fast conversion from arcade to console was possible because this game ran originally on Sega's own NAOMI arcade board, specially built to convert games to the Dreamcast very smooth and easy.
@cpowell78611 жыл бұрын
I completely agree!!!! I have literally played possibly over 1000 hours on this game (and yes I am a gaming dork) and when they were talking about how this game is not a button masher they are so right. My friends and I got so good at this game that it was almost like we were fighting each other in the real world. Every press of the button was an anticipation for the next move. Someone is missing out on serious money by not making number 3. If it was as good as the first one I would spend $100.

I didn't know that game has a sequel. I played the first one extensively on the SFC with my friend back in the days when I was in high school. Yes, you are right about the game being more of a fighting game. I supposed Capcom used the same game engine for Final Fight in in Ring of Destruction.

I liked Power Stone 1 combo system. I liked Power Stone 2 hectic frenzy multi-player and weapon creations. I would like to have Power Stone 3 on the next gen console to have vanilla combo system and still have what the fans want. Another Power Stone Game! The Dreamcast era was an excellent system for its time.

I think having 4 players made good use of the 4 controller ports and gave Dreamcast a good party game probably to compete with N64's Super Smash Bros. So you got two games, one for 1v1 fighting and one for parties. Probably good too since Sonic Shuffle didn't live up to Mario Party fan's expectations.

I didn't own a DC, but I used to rent one now and then and got to play great games like Resident Evil: Code Veronica (which I still prefer on the DC) and this game. To this day when I talk about it I always say that this is where I thought fighting games would go. I was tired of planar fighting and wanted more full 3D, but things didn't quite go my way, haha. Still, Power Stone (I never played 2) is a great game. Awesome video, guys.
