Rex is my favorite Xenoblade character and he deserves his own edit so I made the best one that I could! Idk about all of Xenosaga because I haven’t played those yet, but imo he’s definitely the greatest of the Xenoblade trilogy! He’s also my favorite protagonist as well

What I love about Rex is that he's the archetypical good natured, optimist protagonist; however, he's not dumbed down, nor kept on a bubble. Rex is an optimist that knows reality very well. He has seen the decadency of his world, he has lived in it, he has lost family and friends because of it. The thing with Rex is that he's an active person. Under all the despair he finds cynicism as a "non-answer". Rex actually does something because he can. Even before finding the Aegis, Rex worked to support his village, he was being active and helpful in the capacities he could as someone "regular" up to that point. Rex doesn't say "just smile despite everything wrong", he says with his own actions and words "Let's go together and make an effort so we could all smile, despite everything that is wrong now. This is why I love Rex so much. He's like Spiderman, a hero who shows us the value of perseverance. Rex pushes forward with that, trust, and kindness.

The construction of Rex centered around the fall and rise of the hero with a dose of naivety from a 15-year-old boy who just wants to take his girl to Elysium, made him one of the most memorable characters in the Xenoblade Chronicles series to date.

Thank you! I’m glad I was able to convey emotion through this as it was one of my goals. I was also getting a little teary eyed watching it back and that’s because of Monolithsoft’s incredible storytelling. I just rearranged their story in a way that touched me personally and the rest fell into place.

Rex's optimism, his flame of hope and his ambition to use raw power for good, it could make anyone want to do the same for the people they care about, to put smiles on their faces, to assure them that there are some benevolent people like him out there, who are willing to make the world a better place for everyone.❤ He is the guy that I can relate to in a heartbeat. He is what makes Xenoblade 2 awesome in my book. 🤩

Amazing video and tribute, i got teary eyes lol. I love Rex, he's basically the superman of xenoblade, fighting for the smiles of others and bringing always hope for tomorrow. Im glad people have come around with FR, and now appreciate him.

Thank you! He’s been my favorite since I first played XC2 before XC3 was even announced. FR was just the icing on the cake for me. I was initially skeptical of his portrayal (mostly cuz of the new vo which I’ve come to love now) but I was eventually really impressed with how they treated his character. I’ve also always loved how he’s not a perfect character

I think they were thinking that to. Adult Rex talks about how could someone can sneak up of Shulk is FR and Rex is essentially the powerhouse and opposite of sneaky. Basically Shulk and are basically in alot of ways Xenoblade's superman and batman, character and gameplay wise.

@@PJDAltamirus0425 I was thinking as Rex being the xenoblade superman more because of their morals. Rex is given tremendous power in xc2 and yet it doesnt corrupt him, like Clark, and use it to protect others. Both fight only for helping people smile and to instill hope for tomorrow, and value every form of life. Despite having lost their original families, they are raised by good people that make them who they are in the presents, inspiring others with their optimism and good will. Plus they are both criticized (by people that doesnt get them) for being "too plain or boring", just because they are good to the core.

I love Rex, his journey and his wives Pyra, Nia and Mythra, and their children Mio, Glimmer and the child with Mythra obviously, simply Rex is the best character of the Xeno saga for me and the most important that even Mio in Xenoblade 3 and Glimmer in the DLC stole the spotlight as female characters hehe

Honestly prior to playing XC3FR, I was expecting Shulk to be an Attacker class and Rex as Defender class. I mean, the Aegis is named after a shield, and lines up with Rex’s ideals, where he was to be Pyra and Mythra’s escort, to be the world’s defender from Malos. The Monado was the classical element equivalent to atoms, and Shulk was a more confrontational character who started from vengeance to Metal Face and Mechon, changing to infiltrator against Egil, to divine rebel against Zanza. Besides I’m sure Rex and Shulk would’ve done better there in gameplay. Also yes for poetry, Noah, despite being Attacker class, archetypically is good for a healer (writing wise), not only for the dead and living, the world, but eventually himself.

I had a hard time seeing Rex as anything but an attacker. because you were just gonna have a harder time taking his arts and tooling them for a defender class. even more so when we already knew from base game that he dual wielded. Shulk I had expected to see either as an attacker or healer. because you could easily adjust his kit to take more of a supporting role with moves like light heal and the variety of status effects he can get access to through monado arts.

The Aegis being the official name in English is a bit weird. The Japanese name is Holy Grail. The name was chosen by Malos because for all intents and purposes he is a holy relic from god.
