This is so well made, the bit about students who aren't flourishing in the system, with low grades who are being silenced and failed by education which is supposed to empower them, that got me.. I hope you will continue to be fearless and empower yourself and those around you. The thoughts of the students were all inspirational and your teacher seems like the kind of guy we need more of in this world

That is definitely a point many people forget. Organizations in general often silence those who are not doing well in the system to create this illusion that there are no problems at all but if you look deep enough, you'll see the problems that exist. And Dr. Odom has inspired many students in his years and he's amazing! Thank you

UPDATE (after talking to my principal): 1) Students at Irvine High School are now allowed to run for Associated Student Body (ASB) positions and apply for appointed ASB positions even if they have failed a class 2) Students at Irvine High School are now allowed to makeup their detention and Saturday school hours through Irvine High School hosted community service events. REFORMS STILL NECESSARY: 1) Students' GPA should not stop them from running for and applying for ASB positions. 2) Reforming the dress code policy 3) Students issued with SARBs (School Attendance Review Board) should be able to makeup their detention and Saturday school hours by going to homework club after school instead since they missed so much school. 4) There needs to be a committee, which should include a few teachers and at least one admin, to pick students for the appointed positions for ASB as the current system regarding appointed positions for ASB is very bias. 5) Students should not be charged $45 for parking permits for public school parking when it only costs about 2-3 dollars to make and get the stickers. 6) Defense programs should not be allowed to promote their programs on school campus. 7) Students who cannot afford things necessary for classes (such as workbooks needed for certain classes) should not be asked to pay for them.

Ni, everything you've created with your different forms of art has been beyond amazing but this is one that will always be one of the best. You're such a revolutionary soul and inspire me so much everyday to stand up for myself and others around me. I can't wait for you to do more and more great things. I hope that admin at your school see this and do something about it cause I relate to it a lot

Heyyy!! Thank you so much! I do have a passion for many different forms of art and looking into social issues so I guess it all works out. I'm sure admin at my school have seen this video, what I am hoping for is for them to respond to it cause too often, they ignore these things. I appreciate your kindness and I'm glad you're standing up for yourself and others around you! (-:

What a powerful video. Now that you have achieved some in-roads with ASB, how do you want to tackle curriculum, asking questions in class, and the other issues in your video? I would love to hear more!

Hello all, As this new school year is starting, I want to encourage all students, teachers, admins, any other staff members, parents, and anyone else who has any role in the education system at all to take a stand and fight back to a system that we all have to put up with, a system that is essentially making up our future society. Here is a link to a document I have made with just a few cases stating just a few problems in the education system, what caused them, and what exact steps we need to take to solve the problems: docs.google.com/document/d/1mEZsi0EoWCoFordwekVjY7yccH0fahPUutDdZtp037Y/edit?usp=sharing Please feel free to contact me if you want to add a case to this document (I will give you all due credit) Instagram: @un.think Twitter: @niusha_haji Thanks guys! -Ni
