Saw you guys in LA, at Power of the Riff. Didn't know who you guys were, and you were the best band I saw there all day. Finally, something I can listen to. Keep on shredding.

They definitely became straight up thrash metal though, on their later releases. I don't think anybody would call Manifest Decimation "hardcore punk rock". It's metal. It's even produced like an 80s metal album with the reverb on the vocals

There's so much genre crossover in modern thrash and hardcore, that they are sometimes indistinguishable from each other anyway. I'd say the gang vocals about sufferin' no fools is totally hardcore and the drums are too, but the riffs and guitar tone is clearly thrash metal inflected. So it's crossover thrash. Debate over.

The guys in Burning Love were wearing Powertrip shirts the other night. Then, I found out they just signed to Southern Lord. I had to investigate. Glad I did.

Something that people don't think about when discussing weather or not bands are "hardcore" is that hardcore is more than a genre, it's a scene and community too. Alot of metal, grind, death metal etc. Are in the hardcore scene. Power Trip is one of them. I've seen them many times and they've always played hardcore shows. The scene loves them. They are on a label that's heavily associated with hc. You get the idea.

Yep. I think most people think of bands like Madball, Terror, Irate, Sunami, or Knocked Loose when thinking about hardcore. But you got a lot more than just these bands. It goes from bands like 7 Seconds and Pennywise (which you might argue are just punk bands) to Power Trip or Earth Crisis (metal), or you even got others like Angel Du$t and Turnstile. Heck I think the hardcore scene also likes a good number of rappers, like Ghostemane or Wicca Phase Spring Eternal.

I always thought when people say hard core there just saying the song is bad ass but turns out it’s also a genre? And this song supposedly is a mix of hard core vocals and the drums and guitar are like thrash...
@RTJJstudios8 жыл бұрын
Why is everyone bitching about whether this is hardcore or not? So people might think it is (technically it's not) hardcore but how does it affect you? There's all these people fighting but not sharing their liking of this music?
