That is truly an Epic peice of kit Chris just amazing and as the other guys have said the detail is mind blowing. Mind you for the Comp ya entering it has to be. The Schubies it looks like awesome power AVIALIABLE and even with Weapons Pod on not going to worry it and I suspect it will be surprisnly Fast. Some good usable tips there to I can apply to some stuff have on the go. One of them being a JHH COUGAR kit I just acquired. The purchase date was wait for it 1980. On talking with Larry he thinks it was one of the first production batch. It,s a true builders kit the fuse is in excellent condition everything else built up and I intend to have all bells and whistles as should be able to build lighter with modern gear and materials. Hence paying close attention to what you are using why and how. Yes 90mm Schubie for go power. Looking forward to the Flight Vid and Finishing vid as well. Be well fly lots. ;0)

Thank you! You’re going to love the cougar, they fly sweet! My dad has a 90mm inlet set of it too, in the event you haven’t already ordered a set. It definitely sounds like it would be from the first batch of it was originally bought in 1980. Has the kit been started at all? Oh, my dad also has a laser cut wood set for it too which helps save some build time cutting parts. 😊
@Sluf7 Жыл бұрын
No she is not started pure Virgin Kit. Yeah had a chat by email with Larry advised what is available now and then bought up postage to the bottom of the world. I will decide a bit later if get the wood kit and ducting or make it here. Yeah mates 1/4 Panther fly,s like a trainer. When ya look at the Cougar the Wing and Fuselage area is Huge. Am going to photo copy plans as to good to cut up . I am on the hunt for someone heading to the U,S. At some point which Larry suggested. Anyhoo let's be cracking on the B58 ;0)

This is so cool! I'm building the Revell 1/48 kit, I've rescribed it and will foil cover it instead of Alclad, I will turn new seamless intakes, shock cones and the rear gun fairing from aluminum. I have been wanting to build a PSS B-58 too and figured the best start is a 3D model of it, my research found that many of the drawings found online are based on the inaccurate Italeri kit where the overall length of the plane is too short as they included the length of the pitot tube in the fuselage length. Other drawings don't have the distinct drooped nose in the under fuselage contors around the nose. Are you drawings available anywhere? Thanks!
@Thercgeek Жыл бұрын
Very cool! Should look great in the foil tape. That’s Not an easy process. For the drawings, this model is based off of the drawings in the famous aircraft of the world number 64. There are some really nice drawings in that one.

So very cool. Love the afterburner flicker...very realistic. Have you thought of converting the Schubeler fans over to actual turbines similar to the ones used on the SR-71 you featured on a video 4 years ago?
@Thercgeek Жыл бұрын
I thought of going turbines originally but going to stick with the edfs for the time being. Turbines get pretty spendy pretty quick.

those are some fancy-ass EDFs :D i can only afford the cheap amazon ones for my scratchbuilds, but i suppose with as much love as you're pouring into the hustler only the best motors makes sense!

The next installment in the series will be paint and weathering. I’ll be away for a good portion of May which means that will likely post beginning of June. That said, I’m planning a live stream for this Friday that will be a soft reveal of the current state of the airplane as I’m painting it now.

It is amazing what the electric model motors can do these days. I Praise God for technology used in a good way. Have you done any glow engine ducted fan or gas turbine projects? I have seen and one other video.
@Thercgeek Жыл бұрын
I have done both glow ducted fan and turbine projects. Don’t think I’ll ever go back to glow, but I’ll probably revisit turbines at some point. I’ve ended up leaning electric due to not having a local field I could fly turbines at and the cost.
@daruscole1586 Жыл бұрын
@@Thercgeek Great. I used to be into the propeller driven glow engines mostly but haven't flown in a good while. Does the AMA still require a waiver or permit for a turbine?

Before your first flight with your beautiful creation, I would suggest building a (crude) trainer, roughly the same size, shape and weight, out of something like foam board and flying the heck out of it. I've found this much reduces first flight jitters; kind of like quality time in a full scale simulator pilots of the real thing have.
@Thercgeek Жыл бұрын
Thanks for suggestion. That would nice, but I don’t really have time based on when the contest is. I have flown a lot of delta winged jets with varying wing loadings though, so that helps.

This got a thumb up even before I watched it. Wow! The afterburners, the parachute, and the torque on those 4 motors on rev up....can't wait to see this bird fly ! Is the chute to scale.....and do you think it has scale stopping power ?
@Thercgeek Жыл бұрын
The chute is scale, but I don’t anticipate it’ll have a ton of effect in reality. You can scale down the airplane, but you can’t scale down the air and the speeds at landing are a fraction of what they were on the full scale. Sure does look cool though! The model has brakes too which are quite effective, so that helps.
