Thanks for the video its great to visually see the differences between the wrappers and the pros and cons. I already have the CRB tracks and pro rollers so it makes sense for me at the extra 280 odd dollars to just get the GEN 2 system when or if it is eventually launched.

Good morning. This video couldn’t have been more timely for me as I was just telling my wife that I “needed” the new power rapper from Mudhole. Of course I can’t let her see the part where you say I probably don’t need one as I haven’t wrapped my first rod yet. I sent you an email with some questions and thoughts but basically I was curious about the dimensions of your work bench and some of the particulars of your overall set up. How would you do things different etc. You sort of hit on it a little in this video. Also, thank you for correcting the video. I was watching last night and thought I was loosing my mind. Watched the same video back to back and was about half way through it the second time before I realized it. Thanks for doing these videos. Your methods resonate better than most.

G'day Lee, I'm looking into getting a new power wrapper, since it's been 15 / 16 months since this review in your opinion the Alps or the new CRB Gen2. I love the stands of the CRB, the Delmor is the motor setups & functions. What are the low & high speed capacities of these High speed no vibration, quietness. I suppose my main thing i'm looking for is like the Slip clutch are either or both of these able to be stopped by hand while the motor is under power (at speed) to do any adjustments like touching up some epoxy around the guide feet etc Being in Australia it's hard to get this information & i'm going to have to import the CRB as it's not available here. Any help would be extremely grateful. Cheers Steve Australia P.S. I like some qualities in both machines & some i don't like (Alps thread carriage & stands) I've been building / refurbishing some old school 12 to 14ft glass blanks & need the durability & strength in a machine to accommodate this. Thanks Lee appreciate your guidance, help & advice 🙏🙏

In the desert camo video, I talked about how to upgrade the Gen 2 pedal. If you do that, it is the clear winner, hands down. No slip clutch is standard on either.

Sir I am about to purchase a power wrapper and you hit the key points that I had questions about the Amps and the RBS G2. My first rod I want to build is a 7'6 or 8 foot. It is an old Femwick Pacific Stik Royal model number 1270 s. Would you know a rod company that sells blanks that like this rod or close. Love the flex in this rod.? I just don't like the idea about 7 feet. Also possibly the blank is honey comb color. What color guide thread came with this rod. Trying to get it it as close to the real thing as I can. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I called Fenwick and they don't make any salt water rods anymore they said. And didn't have any information on this rod. Thank you sir.

I don't have any personal experience with that rod. I did a little research and found one for sale on Ebay. If this is the one, I can probably help you replicate it. Email me at fdxcustomrods@gmail.com www.ebay.com/itm/285891634626

Hi wondering what the stiffness is on the alps and CRB for "backrolling"? like when you make a mistake and have to reverse several turns with your hand? Ed
@fdxcustomrods Жыл бұрын
I rewind it back on the thread spool with my right hand as I turn the blank backwards with my left. It keeps the tension the same when I have to backup.

Very informative video👍 Wanted to ask if you prefer the Alps front tread carriage OR the rear carriage system on the RBS? The Alps spring tensioner is something I’m not familiar with. Also, I live in Lake Nona not too far from lake Toho. Just wondering if you fish there? Thanks
@fdxcustomrods4 ай бұрын
I use both, but getting to like the rear carriage more. I fish Toho and Cypress quite a lot. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHO6hYuKhbSSn7csi=9eEVM4wqZVSQ_Yw_ Shoot me an email to fishwithae@gmail.com and we can get out on the water.

There is a company that you missed out - Renzetti the company that makes fly tying equipment. They have a lathe that is well constructed but expensive (Renzetti Craftsman's Rod Lathe)
@fdxcustomrods Жыл бұрын
I've seen those. I did not think it fit in this group of wrappers. Like you said, PRICEY.
@87_North Жыл бұрын
Really unfortunate that you don't get the full extensions with the wrappers... I want to make fly rods, but the majority of fly rods are at least 8'6 - 10ft...
@fdxcustomrods Жыл бұрын
If they are 2 piece blanks you are fine, but I get it if not.
@87_North Жыл бұрын
@@fdxcustomrods actually, most fly rods are at least four pieces, so very short sections. I'm taking an intro to fly rod making class soon, So I'll see what they say. I didn't consider the fact that you don't need to have the entire rod assembled in order to build it lol

On the Pitching Stick 2 top Down Wrap View video you are using the Alps spool carrier on the CRB track system did you make this adaption or does it fit?
@fdxcustomrods2 жыл бұрын
They are interchangeable. The carrier tracks are the same.

What thread carriage is in the alps wrapper
@fdxcustomrods3 ай бұрын
It was either the Alps or my Pac Bay. I've had both wrappers for a decade and can't remember which came with what.

what's your opinion on the ForeCast wrapping machine? they compare it to the ALPS but I'm not sure about it. Wanting to get a CRB pro 2 if they ever get them in stock. Thanks for a good comparison video. also the ForeCast machine sales for about $363.00
@fdxcustomrods Жыл бұрын
The forecast and pac bay chuck is junk. If you build more than a couple of rods you will wind up spending another $175 on the Alps upgraded chuck and throw the plastic piece of crap away. The base, stands and motors are the same. I use my Alps as much as my CRB Gen 1.
@ralphberry3222 Жыл бұрын
@@fdxcustomrods thank you, just starting to build and looking to buy a power wrapper. might have to go with the APLS since you can't get the new CRB Gen2. Great videos thank you, also I'm heading to the ICRBE this weekend hope to find some good deals there.

Did you look at FLEX?
@fdxcustomrods Жыл бұрын
Yes. I started with the flex hand wrapper. But it had a wooden base and the aluminum track on the Alps style looked more durable.

shooot if they can ever get the CRB g2 in stock again 😂
