I have the same battery and originally mounted it in the rear because there was room near the other batteries with an 8 ga. wire to the front. Was getting a sporadic message on the screen that the transducer could not be found. Re-mounted it up near the front with a 36" lg. wire and it now works clean with no error messages. Smart that you mounted it up front from the beginning.

Carl are you talking about replacing your deep cycle trolling motor batteries with 100 ah lithium? If so, you can. They are lighter and more efficient that the deep cycles. They are pricey, though. But... how do you charge it if your on a multiple day fishing trip without a separate charger??? as I'm thinking your boat chargers are probably not designed for lithium batteries??
@BrianGaberFishing Жыл бұрын
I purchased a separate charger for the battery. I tournament fish and use it all day without running it down too low. I am not so sure you couldn't get 2 days of recreational fishing out of a charge. I bring the charger with me on trips and the battery is easy to remove and bring in with me to charge up.

Great video. Thanks. I’m running Garmin MAPS1222 traditional, down and side imagining along with Livescope. What would you suggest for 8-10 hours on the water? Can wires for units and charger be attached at same time for charging?
@BrianGaberFishing2 жыл бұрын
My Amped battery is being charged by the charger that it came with. I am charging the house battery and starting battery through my Blue Sea systems relay at the back of the boat with a separate charger. So I have three things plugged in when charging (Amped charger, 10amp per back charger at the back of the boat on the Blue Sea system, and the onboard charger that is charging my trolling motor batteries (2). It might seem like a lot but it isn't that big of a deal. I have a video on the blue sea system set up for the house (runs all the graphs not Garmin) and my starting battery).

Does your charger get really hot temps over 130 degrees when charging?
@BrianGaberFishing Жыл бұрын
Mine does get warm. I know that heat generation during charging is not abnormal. However, how much a charger heats up probably depends on a the status of the battery (initial capacity, remaining capacity, degree of degeneration). I've seen it said that the surface temps could get to 55 degrees Celsius (130 degrees Fahrenheit) while charging. Chargers are fitted with functions to stop the charging or control the temperature. If yours is an Amped, It's worth a quick message to make sure your temps are inside their intended range.

I don't understand why my boat batteries won't power it???
@BrianGaberFishing2 жыл бұрын
Many have wondered that too Mark. The answer is, it will. For a little while. You're starting battery, or house battery (running all accessories) start at 12 volts and run down below 11.8 pretty quickly, causing livescope issues. You need a battery that starts will above 12 volts (16 to 18) and drain to 12. This way, you never get below 12 volts and never have power performance issues.

Do you get a better picture with more volts
@BrianGaberFishing2 жыл бұрын
No. The higher voltage is the upper limit of the requirements of the electronics, rather than the lower end. They can run in the lower end, but as the village drops into the 11 volt range the picture goes bad.

Will a 12v 23ah work for a 126sv and livescope
@BrianGaberFishing2 жыл бұрын
Hey Brent. Thanks for the question. Your black box will require between 21 and 58 Watts, depending on what settings you have (Gain). Let's say typical is 21Watts. 21 Watts/12 volts = 1.74 amps. A 126 sv might use around 24 Watts or 24 Watts/12 Volts = 2 amps. This all depends on settings too (screen brightness, etc...) So just add them up...1.74 amps + 2 amps = 3.74 amps. With your 23 ah battery you should get 23 ah/3.74 amps = 6 hrs. The thing to remember is that with a 12 volt battery, you are starting at 12 and immediately discharging below 12. When you get below 11.2 volts on that battery, you will notice a performance decrease in the Livescope. So, your time of good image quality will be less than that 6 hrs.. If you can, I would get more.
Do you recommend powering the graph itself and the Livescope from the same battery or separate?
@BrianGaberFishing Жыл бұрын
I do. I like to keep them together. I have a video about my power charging system and that is driving this decision. I have a system for power management that tries to limit the loads on the house battery kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYi7fmaMnqeAaJI
