Michael.. Quick note to thank you (and maybe help your subscribers) for recommending a Lithium 100Ah battery to run my two Helix 12's and a Helix 15... I put this battery in the boat and started with 13.4 volts...ran for 7 hours yesterday with all three units on full time and came off the water with 12.6 volts on each unit...!! Thanks for your quick response and very accurate information...! God's Blessings on You and your family...

This is excellent information. I am trying to buy a battery box to run my Garmin 93sv and a GoPro on my Kayak. If I filled out your spreadsheet correctly the 10AH LiFePO4 Battery would only last 5 hours. That is probably not enough and the Dakota power box I was looking at is only available in a 10AH version. Am I using the spreadsheet correctly? The 93sv was not listed so I used the 93UHD. The current battery I am using is a Bixpy 166 LiFePO4 and it is rated at 166Wh so it seems a 12 or 13 Amp hour battery gives me about the same.

I run a Mercury 250 four stroke on an Ionic dual purpose battery that has my electronics and all my other stuff (bilge pumps etc). Not an exact science I know. I am getting 0.0 for Load and Power if I select Active_Target. Since you are using explicit lists, you should change the Range_Lookup in your VLOOKUP statements to FALSE so that it looks for an exact match in your list. I have tested on my end and it has corrected the issue for me. Alternatively you could use an Index Match configuration if you need to search a range in a direction other than leftmost to right. I am running a 24v Minnkota Terrova with 2 12v Group 27 lead acid batteries. My cranking battery is a Group 24 12v. I have a fourth battery(Group 27 12v) that was my original TM battery before converting to a 24v TM. I am using it to run all of my fused accessories as well as my Lowrance Elite FS9 and HDS 7 Gen 3. This "house" battery is showing signs of decline, and I'm debating on my best course of action when the need arises. I'm not even sure I need a fourth battery.

Since you have it, I would prefer to keep it in place. Something like a 50Ah will likely fit the bill. It's always preferred to keep any loads off of the cranking battery to help it live its best life. It's pretty important.

In the Battery_Calc-Share.xlsx sheet when I select Battery LiFePO4, 30ah, 12.8v and in Electronics Garmin Echomap_Ultra_106 and Garmin Livescope_LVS34, Cell c23 shows 2.8 (amps) but the formula for that cell looks up D14 in Lists and then multiplies it by 12.6 and then divides that result by $C$5 (12.8). My question is “why 12.6? In Lists, D14 seems to find Lead Acid 12.6 which doesn’t seem correct. I wonder if that is because it doesn’t find 30 in the table above it (it goes from 25 to 50 and does not include choices for 30 or 32 or 48). Can you explain why 12.6 would be appropriate here? By the way, I absolutely love this spreadsheet and applaud you for you excellent work on it.

Some use 12V (Garmin), others use 13V or 13.8V (Lowrance/Simrad), and others provide a voltage range (Hummingbird). Furuno specifies current draw at both 12V and 24V. In fact there is no one single voltage that “most manufacturers” specify the current draw of their graphs and sonar modules at.

Do you have a spreadsheet for trolling motor battery? I'm looking to replace my 3 lead acid with 3 12v 100ah lithium or 2 36v 40ah lithium
@goodmanfishing
@goodmanfishing Жыл бұрын
Trolling motors are a lot more tricky due to the varying amperage. The best way to compare those are to lead acid. 3 typical lead acid batteries will give you about 50Ah of energy each. So that converts to 36v 50Ah. If you were to buy a 36v 50Ah battery, that's the same energy as your lead acids, but with a lot better cycle life. If you were you buy 3x 100Ah batteries, that's 36v 100Ah, DOUBLE the capacity of your three lead acids. That's a lot... Two 36v 40Ah is about 1.5x the lead acid capacity.

At 75%, 12.4v, should last 2 hours before i hit that mark. Im not. My onboard charger charges battery, and multimeter gives me 13.03v. When i head for the lake, my units show charging with boat alternator at 14.2, however, once i stop, turn on the electronics (Livescope 12 inch, and Helix 12) i start at 12.7 and with 5 minutes it decreases to 12.4, litterally 5 minutes at 12.4. It will stay at 12.4 for about 20 minutes (i put my Helix 12 in standby) before it drops to 12.3. I go to start my boat engine and i get a low voltage (i have it set at 10.5v). I don't understand why im not getting a higher voltage to start with nor why it drops so quickly. Help?

Voltage in the chart is without a load, I can't quite predict what the voltage will be with a load on it at a given depth of discharge. I suspect if you turn off your graphs after a known about of discharge, you'll see similar static voltage.

The Voltage for a lead acid battery should not default to 12.6V on the spreadsheet. The nominal voltage is 12.0v.
