Crazy to think this is almost 20 years old. I knew it was from the early 2000's as soon as I heard that background music. Also this came out right before the first digital GoPro camera became available. I found myself pausing the video to try and get a glimpse of how they filmed onboard shots with these rigs. It had to be a challenge due to the rugged open air conditions. Its just kind of taken for granted today that there are so many high quality solutions to capturing those kind of shots. I bet it was a little more of a chore to rig up something that could get the job done while being fairly confident it would come out the other side intact.
