Ah. The wonderful days when SD hosted Trucks. I thought those great times would last forever😢

@@IndridCool54 I absolutely don't know how 20 years can slip by like that. I remember watching these shows like it was yesterday. Every weekend. And I recorded them on whatever I had back then. Blink....... and its 2024. And I'm sad...

@@IndridCool54 For what it's worth. I now make a conscious effort to enjoy every minute of the day. I still have to work so its easier said than done sometimes but I don't want anymore time to go that quickly again. Please take care and I wish you the very best health. Because with that, theres nothing you can't do. Cheers!

@@giggiddy Thanks, I wish you the same and I try to live my life the same way. Going to be 70 in November. As the saying goes; If I had known that I’d live this long I would’ve taken better care of myself! 😁 Enjoy!

Back when trucks were affordable. I owned a 97 F150XLT SC. Overall a good truck that served me well for 8 years.

It would've been really cool to see some before and after dyno runs. Those 4.6 and 5.4 Mod engines had some serious issues with the heads and ejecting spark plugs...they also suffered from weak exhaust manifold studs leading to exhaust leaks and ticks.
@x1boomer4 ай бұрын
good torque 🔧 used correctly and anti seize. the exhaust studs just corrode over time. most mod engines are over 2 decades old by now. both easy fix issues.

I have a 2005 F150 FX4 and it’s just about at 350k. Only thing I had to replace under the hood (besides maintenance items) is the throttle body. It had 25 miles on it when I bought it new. I’m an old dude and I have been living a nomad life for the last few years and I tow my 19ft travel trailer around with it. 😎
@WhoThisGuy5153 ай бұрын
The whole issue was not enough torque on the plugs from the factory, called for 12 ft lbs. Done tons of plug changes on the 2vs. Just pull them out when the heads are cold and torque to 24ft lbs and you'll have no issues. The exhaust studs rusting and breaking are pretty common on the Hemi's too. just swap them out for stainless.
@IndridCool543 ай бұрын
@WhoThisGuy515 If I remember right, the problem on the 3v 5.4 plugs was they were a two piece plug from the factory and would break when you went to change them. I have an ‘05 and I have done all the spark plug changes myself, but it’s been a long time since I did that first set. I remember that I did do it with the engine warm and I sprayed some penetrating oil the day before. I also remember some cylinder heads had insufficient threads for the plugs. That might have been the 2v. 👍🏼
@primer503 ай бұрын
The 5.4l 2v (pre-2003) had the plug ejecting issues due to heat cycling and the limited number of threads in the heads as long as you check them for occasionally for tightness it's not an issue. The exhaust manifolds are a problem with lots of different makes and models' aluminum heads and cast-iron manifolds are just problematic with the two dissimilar metals. The 5.4 3v engines i would stay away from completely the cam phasers problems and the two-piece spark plug it's just not worth the time and effort.

Bright idea if you don't want to slam your truck for the grinding effect, use an electric actuator bolded to your frame then bolt the grinders to them and wire in, adjust to grind and enjoy the grind without lowering your truck.
