@mplante73523 жыл бұрын
They did a 347" SBF not so long ago and at the 500HP mark they had to go to an aftermarket block so would have made more sense for them to use a 351W based engine if you wanted stock for stock, they would have made over 400HP easily and had more torque to back up the HP. they said the EFI will handle more which is great but if you wanted to do turbo or supercharger then the block becomes the weak link at .060" over i'd pass and used the stock crankshaft another cringe. you can do all of this stuff but does it make sense when your whole foundation for your house is made of popsicle sticks and gorilla glue?

Love the show! I don't mean this derogatory to you guys. But all I learned from this video is that those performer RPM heads are way out of date and left behind by newer head designs. Pretty much any flat top short block, AFR 185 renegades or trick flow twisted wedge 170 11rs with a comp XE274 HR will make like 430 with a dual plane and simple carb or 450 to 460 with a single plane and 7k RPM. That is just the typical 302 inch small block ford on the street these days, times have changed! I've never seen one done up with nice heads and as fancy of a top end as y'all use. But my guess is it would be pretty epic. I've got one myself with 185 renegades and a dual plane and it straight up rips. That head choice killed the build. The modern head technology is amazing.

@@bigboreracing356 The engine in this video did not need 8k rpm, but it's power curve was still climbing hard at 6k rpm when they shut it off. Should have run it until the power started to fall off. Probably would have peaked around 6500, and made good power to around 6800.

@@bigboreracing356 not really. That motor should be well northward of 400HP. $3,000 in real high quality parts and no "real" tuning. That torque curve looks like ass. Either he is staying on the brake too long or that motor has zero downstairs.

Nice 87 octane street motor. I'd go smaller on the cam or higher on the redline, though.
