Just a tip to people watching, never do this without heat. It IS possible, but much more risky and difficult. From the looks of it this iPad may have been opened previously, the adhesive is normally much tougher. Just repaired one of these a week ago (I work in a repair shop) and without heat it would have been hell. Always use heat, and if you can't heat it I'd recommend having a professional do it. But this method will still work, again, it's more risky and difficult. Anyways, have fun guys! (And still a nice video man!)

I was going to say....I found 2 at the town dump, they both charged right up but without the password they're useless so.... I attempted to disassemble one of them with out googling first LOL...No, LOL and Hahahehe....I'll be vacuuming sparkles of glass for a week. So, 'Heat' is the answer! Now I know and thank you very much. I was kind of hoping for an SSD , something useful....No joy, typical Apple LOL :)
@Rock_Appreciator Жыл бұрын
@@Keving3 Yeah there isn't really anything salvageable inside unless you are a nut for DIY linux projects haha! Heat is definitely very useful though, will soften up the glue (and parts as well slightly, I suppose) and make screen removal, battery removal etc.. a lot easier! Like 140F or quite spicy but not instantly burning to the touch is a great temp to work with IMO. Just make sure your device is off! 😆

@@Rock_Appreciator I'm saving the batteries for the next time the power goes out, one of those will run a 5" computer fan for a week if it happens in the summertime. Another one will blind you for a couple weeks if you alligator clip it to one of those LED flashlight arrays, great for reading a book when there's no lights ...... (half our readers: What's a book?) In the mean time, given all the issues with Li/Ion batteries (especially ones that have been pried out of iPads) I'm storing them in a Pyrex bowl so if they blow up I won't lose my house :)

Many people say that my iPad 2 is not fixable, but deep inside me I know it can be repaired. The only intact thing that probably works is the motherboard. I'll try to swap the motherboard with another iPad 2 (same model A1395) and I hope that it will work because there are lots of photos, videos, games and memories from my childhood. (I destroyed it when I got super angry as a kid.) Also can I swap the motherboard from the white bezel iPad to the black bezel version? (They are both A1395.) I hope that it will work.

@Bananas138 On older models it forced the application to close and took to the Springboard (Jobs described it as an "anti panic button" because if you were lost in some submenu and didn't know how to come out you only had to press it to come back to the home screen) On newer models with iOS 4 (iPhone 3GS/4, iPad 2 and newer iPod Touch) it has the same functionality but keeps the application alive in background so you can come back to the app by double clicking the Home button

I did an iPad 2 years ago... super-careful; I had the heat gun on along side the thermal-readout gun, carefully monitoring with all the shiny flat tools, screwdrivers, and plastic wedges all laid-out like an exotic surgical operation... and the inquisition light. But that was for my sister! My iPad Mini (daily driver and using Hangouts for Wifi calling) was shattered... and acting erratic because of it... yet I was nervous to proceed on it until watching this guy with great confidence just "go at it" without much concern. A lot of these have too much talk... this, for me, was just right... and yeah guys, remember: Glass is rigid. You try to bend it... it will crack!! (What is the deal with some of these ppl saying they were using his approach and crack? Yeah, I used the heat gun on this one too... It super-helps.

And yes... I have an iPad Mini Original! (uno. One) -Now, if there's a tutorial to easily swap out nd upgrade the memory, I'm game! I've seen how it is easy for iPhones... not sure why an iPad is harder? I have seem one guy do the heat gun for 4 minus straight on a video... and then pop out iPad memory with like 28 little soldeed "dot" connections on the back... how strange is that? NEver seen this type of memory. Certainly doesn't look like it was designed to be replaced and soldering such a micro-dot solder array is a bit... intimidating when you want to do this very evenly and not "overcook" one of your memory sections... Hello thank you for the video. I wanted to ask you if I were to transfer my logic board(memory unit) onto a fresh iPad 2 can it be accomplished ? My iPad 2 is completely warped, screens don’t flush and it’s jailbroken so I can’t back it up on iTunes and I have to spend more money for the lcd replacement than what the device is even worth at this point. Any answer is appreciated, thank you. Both iPads are 16gb only, no carrier.
@PowerbookMedic6 жыл бұрын
There is not a memory module you can just transfer over. The memory is soldered to the board, so any transfer would require moving over the chips that are soldered to the board. We've never moved the chips over ourselves, so I couldn't say beyond that.
@DannyWifi6 жыл бұрын
Powerbook Medic ouch, that sounds very challenging. I figured the memory was in the logic board so I would swap it with another iPad 2 and have my memory. It’s okay, thank you so much for the quick response! You’ve been very helpful.

What is the model # on the back of the iPad. Most likely you have a different type of iPad. You don't glue the iPad back together. You need to use adhesive strips.

the cable that is attached to the glass next to the home button is the wifi. And for 3g devices there are two cables attached along the top next to each side of the front facing camera as well as the wifi at the bottom.

Small ding on the corner. iPad worked fine until the battery died and won't accept a charge from any source I've tried.
