My karizma zmr v2 had a stock tyre of 120 at back and 80 at front. My rear tyre used to slip on heavy rains even in 40 to 50 kmph, but i upsized it to 130 and used the interceptor tyres by ceat and now that my rear end got grippier my front with 80 section tyres started slipping on roads or atleast i noticed it only when the rear got better. What tyre should i upgrade it to? The bike really picks up speed but the front tyre is scary. Should i upsize it and if yes pls suggest a good tyre for me. Note that the rim diameter is 18 inches and not the usual 17s and there are a few options.

2:59 Came here with this concern and I wanted to make sure of it. I have a Bajaj Pulsar RS200. The stock tire sizes are 100/80 for the front and 130/70 for the back. I upsized 1 size for both tires (110 & 140) for "more stability and better cornering". Noticed a decrease in fuel mileage and acceleration but I didn't care. However, I always noticed how the 140 tires always looked small on my bike, but noticeably bigger on other bikes with 250/300cc, until I inspected the rim width of my bike and compared it to theirs. Turns out, the rim's horizontal width of my RS200 is noticeably less wide than other said 250/300cc motorcycles. That's when I knew that maybe I'm wasting my money and A LOT of potential power and acceleration in size that is basically going to waste, and it was only confirmed in this video. Thanks for the quality content.
@amrmalik6429 ай бұрын
Well I have CBR150R, width of back rim is 3.5" only & stock tire size is 130/70 which is skinny even for a small sportsbike. Still I switched to 150/60 yesterday although it isn't that wide if attached to 4" rim width but it still looks better than 130/70. Bike now handles better than stock tires tho. Sticks like glue to the road. Don't really care bout mpg etc. Lol.. At least I'm satisfied with my decision :)
@asrdni9 ай бұрын
@@amrmalik642 Hey man, thanks for stopping by. Here's a little update: I actually fitted a 130/70 rear tire and the acceleration and torque were crazy. The only catch? The top speed dropped hard. Used to get 150km/h before the redline with the bigger tire. Now it redlines at 140km/h. Also, I noticed that I was stuck at higher rpms more compared to when I had the bigger tire. Also, the fuel mileage didn't change AT ALL lol. Next thing I did was sell that 130 piece and fit a 140 one again. A 140 is probably the smallest good tire that can be fitted on a 150/200cc bike in my opinion.
@amrmalik6429 ай бұрын
@@asrdni Welcome! Might wanna change the sprocket too? lol. Also do you wanna try 150/60 in the back? haha! Btw my CBR150 engine only has 16hp (which is kinda weak lol). I just changed the rear sprocket size to 44T 2hrs ago, original was 45T. Front is 15T from the factory, changed it to 16T. Idk why I freakin' love taller gears. BTW the 16-44 setup I have now is heaven! I don't mind if lose some acceleration or top speed, I just want the engine to "relax" at high speeds. Maybe I'll try the top speed later., kinda curious too with 150/60 tire and 44T setup 🤔

Glad that PD had bought Very important aspects of motorcycling to the forum, I don't know how many of us watch Moto3 (250 cc) racing and check out it's tyre size and mind you it is capable to hit almost 220kmph and the tyre size probably thinner than what mfgs are giving right now in India for same capacity of Motorcycle . Meanwhile most important thing to choose the right compound and grip pattern for road / track use . Michelin, Metzeler or Pirelli offers slightly softer compound for road use. 99% of time mfgs are giving optimum tyre size.
