You can make a video on valve clearance. KTM recommends to do it every 15K Kms, which I think most people don't - even the service centres don't encourage it because of how complex the job is. It would be nice to know what would happen if it's not done at the required time, as in the worst case.

I was having this overconsumed issue with my 8 years old avenger. I have drove around 60k km, and after such prolonged use my bike was having several issues. I got my piston, time-chain, and few gears changed,; now my bike feels new like. Still getting mileage around 35kmpl, bike easily cruises at 100kmph. It's just great again. Also, listening to Shumi is such bliss. All riders listening to Shumi need not to learn from their mistakes, he's covered you with his experience.

@Kumar Ankit Always, I always make sure that my engine oil is within the correct limit. I change engine oil at an interval of 5000 km and sometimes top up when required. Also, for last 2-3 years I am using motul 7100.

My dad has a 2014 Pulsar 150 which has clocked almost 2.5 lakh kms. The piston, valves, timing chain, head cover all have been changed. The clutch plates have been changed twice now. After this complete restoration, we found out that the carburettor needs a change. Once done, the motorcycle would feel and ride like a new machine. Rebuilding is totally worth it.

Very true That's the reason we service at recommend intervals Is it not the job of service engineers to guide us what is needed to keep the machine going smoothly, we wld be more than happy to get the consumables replaced even before they are used up completely. Ground reality is our service engineers and service centres keep cheating us and keep making money just by doing filmsy services repeatedly.

Hi, I have a Bullet Electra 350, I do the servicing, and all the checks regularly. But have a few questions... I have been going on long rides about 500 to 1500 km round trips for a while now... And some things that keep irritating me are: 1. Should I switch to an alloy wheel? Is it beeter for me? Because I do some off-road as well but, fixing a puncture on my current setup is too tedious. 2. The engine oil. I use Motul synthetic oil, gives me long enough range for my bike, but at the same time, I feel the experience and long lasting range can be improved, with a change in that. Some help with these would be really helpful. Thanks
@prashanthgtr2 жыл бұрын
1. Alloys are bad for off-road purpose they break, even general Indian road conditions (sudden pits & bumps) bend most alloy wheels easily. Specifically for off-road people use forged alloys or steel rims(easy to repair) at least that's the case for 4x4's not sure what off-road specific alloys/rims are available for bikes. I believe you could use good alloys for city & highway runs without any problems as long as you have decent roads. 2. Oil recommended in the user manual is enough. but If you want to experiment, try different brands/types(semi-synthetic ,synthetic) to find what works for you but make sure oil grade is the right one for your engine. I think for CI's its 20-40 & UCE engines its 15-50; you can also play with this if you know what different grade stand for & their use.
