In all fairness, even tho the main fault was the heat ex on the boiler, the system had a good damn good clean from you, so all your time and effort was worth it on that part, as you can physically see the difference in the water quality. well done too.

Yes with British gas cover, sludge and limescale damage is not covered however if the customer decides to go private, British gas will test the quality of water and if it passes they'll change the necessary parts however in the future if the system gets blockages again they'll test the water again and won't cover any more parts if the system has a build up of sludge.

I believe this is Giannoni parallel heat exchanger. Making powerflush it difficult becuase of the parnell stucturr it would be like trying to powerflush flush a towel rail clean. The water will take the path of least resistance.
@cputilitysolutions
@cputilitysolutions 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you're right the waterways are very thin so difficult to flush it through, especially once it's already very badly blocked up

Nice Affort! What you could do is flush the heat exchanger with an acid like "Grünbeck Geno CP" or Similar. Had that often here in germany because we have harder water(wit more calcium..?)
@cputilitysolutions
@cputilitysolutions 2 жыл бұрын
That would have been an option but in this case the customer couldn't afford to spend more money on repairs and fortunately they had insurance cover where they changed the main heat exchanger for them

Nice one! You are an inspiration buddy. Can I ask, was it not possible for you to clean the heat exchanger as well since you had done most if not all the heavy lifting already?

I did try to flush through the boiler and the main heat exchanger but it was too bad clogged up. Customer managed to get BG to change it after the flush and said it was all working after that 👍🏽

Don’t you just hate days like this! Maximum effort minimal results! But you got a result in the end so all good 😊 You need to get an adey vibra cleanse mate! they are brilliant! you will get much more dirt out with one.
@cputilitysolutions
@cputilitysolutions Жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, so yeah the customer got BG to replace the main hex in the end so all good. I've got the vibraclean but had a bad experience with a rad valve popping off as wasn't done up tight enough so since then I've gone back to the rubber mallet 😂

How do you price jobs like this doing exceptionally over and above? Or u just stick to what you charged cuz customers always won’t take it if adding extra to original quote

Hi mate this good job I enjoyed watching the video but what I would do first is to identify the problem by connecting the boiler to power flush and run the boiler and see if still over heat. In this way you can tell if the system is blocked or the boiler..
@cputilitysolutions
@cputilitysolutions 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I did that as well but I was hoping the FX2 might clear it anyway but the main hex was too badly blocked in the end

Hi, why don't you use hydropneumatics?
@cputilitysolutions
@cputilitysolutions 2 жыл бұрын
What's that mate? Not heard of it before
@factorclassic
@factorclassic Жыл бұрын
Why not use FX2 to descale heat exchanger - you have couple of FX2 acid bottles anyway? that would have removed blockage from boiler heat exchanger, if it was made from stainless steel which is safe to descale. Have you done descaling before? But even then, if heat exchanger is made of multiple pipe segments such as in Vaillant, it may never be descaled completely. If it is made as a single pipe coil, such as Viessman, it would be easier to descale. This is why one has to do research in boiler heat exchanger design, before investing in new boiler.

Customer was on a budget and I already did more than what I had charged for. Plus they had BG cover so any further works was covered by them. Had an update that they came and replaced the main heat exchanger and all working fine ever since
