They copy the most popular one, I've heard maybe 5 different variations of this story, nearly identical arcs and structure with slightly more or less blood thirsty MCs and different monsters and completely different art.

Also how it works is a bunch of the authors are colleagues and when one makes a thing the other tries to make a new popular story they copy the story almost exactly and change small elements and hope to ride the wave of popular stories. Its been happening since Tolkien, but Asian authors are more shameless, this story is pretty much replacing dogs with shadows, a cerberus with griffin, magic sentient sword with a non sentient magic sword.
