Yes, it’s important to give these motors a workout now and again. At least a couple of times monthly in my opinion. I found out through experience with my Land Cruiser Amazon where the centre diff lock was actuated often enough but the rear axle diff lock, motor actuated, was not needed for years at a time. When I did come to use it, I’d lost it. No error codes but no diff lock engagement ever again. In this case I didn’t bother repairing it, because I never used it. The new Ranger is a different matter because it does more extreme farm work and, due to experience, I’ll certainly engage it regularly. The other 4wd modes including the centre diff lock are used regularly anyway during day to day work. My 2014 Ranger also has electronic shifting for low range and high 4wd and is used very regularly in low range, so it has never been a problem [touch wood!]

The odd thing is it would work after a long drive - almost like it was drying out - or maybe the vibrations / heat etc helped ! Got this fixed now the DPF light is on !

Hey Simon, I have this same issue and took it to Nissan with the following conclusion from them: "FOUND CODE P1819 WORKED TH DIAG CHECKED PINS PLUG M68 BUT FOUND ISSUE IN PLUG CONNECTORS PINS 1/4 LOOSE. REMOVED PINS AND TIGHTE AND REFIT AND CLEAR CODES. OKAT TIME OF TEST" - So this aligns partly with what you found. However, I can confirm them (Nissan) removing the plug and reconnecting it has not resolved the issue. In fact, the issue is now much more frequent! I could go previously go weeks without the 4WD fault popping up and now it's every time I start the engine. They want £180 every time they diagnose the same issue and I find it very frustrating. 😕

Try exercising the motors like I did and see if that fixes it. Mine is still fault free

Hey @@L663 I've been trying that. No issues switching between them, even HI LO. Even took it for a drive to the supermarket in 4WD HI - fun parking that with all the tyre scrubbing lol. The fault is so much more frequent now that Nissan have investigated the plugs :-/

Hello, I have a terrible problem finding D+ in my car and connecting the trigger cable from dcdc charger. I checked all fuses. there is not one that would have voltage only when the engine is running. I even took the car to an authorized Nissan dealer, they looked for some wires and found some with a voltage of 6 or 3v. I'm begging you for help! Navara from 2018, Spanish version for Europe

I charged my battery and the 4wd system fault hasn’t been seen since

I did see that battery charging / battery state was one of the reasons for this playing up. But its been a couple of weeks since i did this fix and its fine still.
