@@HillPhantom No worries. I live in a part of the UK that is still reasonably remote - as it can be for our small island. The weather can knock us off grid when it gets a bit fruity and whilst i dont need to go full prepper...its good to have continuity plans.

Thanks for the information. I'm traveling outside the country and was nervous about powering the mini. I picked up a Anker 737. I can fly with it so that helps.

All depends on what you are doing but I got about 3 hours of streaming tv shows for example.

Thank you so much for this video! You answered so many of my questions about the Mini and in a way that a novice like me can actually understand. Now I'm just wondering if it will be usable for receiving phone calls and texts if I'm hiking in a heavily forested area without cell service. Any idea? I'm thinking it will be hit or miss. Also, did you purchase a Roam plan?

Hey thank you so much! So canopy is a thing and in regards to text and voice its not gonna be cell so if you dont have the ability to do wifi cell./text on your plan from your provider it would be a no go. But you can always set up google voice or the like or to be honest, have you looked into the SPOT? I use the spot ALOT. But yes heavy canopy is gonna be an issue. There are a TON of apps tho you can look at that you could still do voice and text over internet. If you need help happy to have a quick meet with you if you want, all for helping if this is a bit confusing. Cheers.

Fellow Montanan here wondering, can you fly with the Anker/third battery option? I'll be working remotely in CR soon and as the power goes out often, I'll need a backup option for my starlink mini.

Howdy! Sadly no you can't fly with that one only the first one. TSA requires under 27000 mAh that last one is I think 90000 mAH. Not sure how long your done there but you can ship larger ones and you can order them to CR. But sadly if you want to fly with it...has to be under 27000 mAh. Hand fun be safe Pura Vida!!!

I'm waiting for delivery on my Mini. My concern is how to secure it from theft. Any ideas would be appreciated. I'm going to use it in my Class C Motorhome.

Great question. I have seen some locking cases but yet to see a locking solution for mounts sadly. Hopefully we see something from starlink soon

Will the starlink work if the solar panel isn't drawing in sufficient power due to clouds, rain, etc? Or will it just shut off , does it store power from previous charges? Or only draw power ? Thank you

Sorry if that was a bit confusing, you have to still run your dish off of the battery. When you plug add in a solar panel with a battery that has a solar charger, it has the ability to both power and charge at the same time is all that really means. Technically you could run it directly by a solar panel but it would be to inconsistent and would not work long most likely. Its also good to have a battery because it will provide a constant source of power versus jumping all over. End of day, sad story, you still have to have a battery. But the idea is this, battery to starlink, battery to solar panel. If the sun is out, it will both deliver power to the battery and also charge it. And in my case that typically means, in full sun, my battery does not dip at all if it starts out fully charged.

@HillPhantom yeah that makes sense , battery would be necessary to keep powering the starlink overnight. So the starlink doesn't charge and requires an external power source?
