The last vid: the first thing I would do is have him set his feet more out in front to get the knee below the hip. Sean noriega would be a good example. Keep chest up. Keep shoulders retracted (use a lift off if need be). It also looks like he relaxes a bit after the unrack. When you shoot your hips up to self unrack try to brace before. Concentrate on feeling the shoulder blades go down the bench as the weight gets set. Still using complete leg drive let a breath out while fighting to keep that chest up and brace once again before starting the decent. During the decent think chest up. During the pause think lat flare.
@Ericliaoo4 жыл бұрын
I feel that John should keep his elbows in a bit, it looks like he flares them out a bit. Perhaps engage the lats more and really focus on retracting the shoulder blade to set himself in place.

Carlo was an interesting one. Another suggestion: Don't do reps with sleeves and belt, save them for 90%+ low rep/single sets when you need the extra help. It will also build confidence and give you more confidence for the heavy lifts when you put them on.

My theory is that somebody had the big brain idea of "Flat sides don't roll!" and didn't put any further R&D in before production.

I believe commercial gyms buy them to discourage deadlifting off the floor. I read that somewhere when I looked up what they could possibly be useful for.

For getting a big squat just starting out,would you recommend doing 5x5 only or adding something in like hip thrusts in to help with deadlifts and my squat or should I leave all that till I finnish my 5x5 program as my nervous system isn't used to doing any exercises yet
@blingeranvideos65684 жыл бұрын
His benching positioning is perfect before he unracks and he loses it right as he unracks. Probably worthwhile to get a buddy to hand off the bar to him, or to at least unrack the bar with butt down. Also, using bands across the bench if the commercial gym bench he uses isn't very grippy can also be helpful.
@codycarpenter46044 жыл бұрын
I would say that his elbows could be more stable, range of motion could improve, and possibly adding more leg drive.
@johnsims99074 жыл бұрын
With Carlo I'd really be interested to know what he's doing before hitting heavier weights. If he's hitting 130 for 6 and then trying 160 he's probably just gassed. I bet if he went with 1-2 rep warm-ups working up he would crush his PR.
@lauravo33554 жыл бұрын
I like john's bench. Elbows can be more stable, I wonder how wide his grip is. I may be reading too much into this, but I get the sense from how his belly inflates that he can get some core tightness by focusing on a more consistent breathing strategy.

@reallimited22554 жыл бұрын
@@TripodianTT Nope, English is my first language. As a new subscriber who has never seen Dani before, I don't know her sarcasm. What I do know is 3 reds is a failed rep in a meet. Bryce adds to it that "some of them seem to be on the line, but it may be camera angle." He goes on to say maybe he can work on defining the depth more. Maybe you can be kind enough to tell me what were the obvious cues.

So leg drive- your legs are flexed/tense the entire time?
@kjellman963 жыл бұрын
"Uriel" Awesome name.
@shreksthongg4 жыл бұрын
I think something with the leg drive that was an issue for me, was my upper back was sliding out of position during the lift. If I bench shirtless (in my garage) it actually isn't an issue, but if I were to go to a commercial gym where I have to wear a shirt, I can see it being very annoying. I guess that's where those grippy shirts and that yoga mat idea come into play.

For carlo....singles, triples, etc. 130x 6 is right on for 155x1. Get used to heavier stuff.
@mrbottomtext14014 жыл бұрын
im still new at this but the thing with first guys set up, i see with people who have long torsos including myself, to get shoulders over bar they either have to round or shift weight back but in doing that wouldnt make shins vertical which means hard AF off the ground bc knee extension uses quads?
