Probably an old thought (just ran across your tutorial)... You can set print area in excel before you insert as an object, thus avoiding the cropping ~ at least it worked for me. And I'm an idiot. thanks.

How do you create your presentations? I like to see the camera while you move from one software to another. I would like to create similar presentations. The one object that I could not link and edit was an Autocad file. From a larger cad file I made several smaller with specific windows and I zoom to extents prior to saving. In PP I inserted the cad object and it shows the right link but open its own cad that I can edit but it is not the one that I had saved originally. I asked about this topic in an architectural group and nobody had an answer. Only delete and reinsert. Thanks for your video. I was able to do what I needed for my homework today. Good to have short and specific videos.

Is it possible to add a line to the selected table? If instead of just changing the values, the table itself changes, can we simply add that line/column, or must we add the whole table once again? Thanks for this great explanation!!

Hi Pedro, When you say a line, do you mean a new row in the table? If so, if you want it to link up with the Excel file, you'll need to add it there first then import it in to PowerPoint. If the table is linked, it'll update automatically. Thank you for watching!

I've tried it again but I still cannot insert a new row on a previously shared excel table. Imagine I have a table with 4 rows (1 for the header, and 3 for data). I follow your steps and I am able to add the table to a Power Point presentation and link it so that if I change anything on any of those 4 rows it will change as well in Power Point. Problem is if I need to add one more row (so a 5th one) with data. So far I need to delete the table in Power Point and create a new table, linked to excel, with the new data included. Hi. I followed the steps linking excel to powerpoint but the 2 files are in Onedrive. The linking worked while powerpoint is open. When I close it, re-open and select Update Links in the prompt, the linked objects didn't show. I hope you can help me with this issue. Thanks

Great Adam, saved me a lot of work watching this. Is there any way I could use a excel worksheet as a basis for many different numbers in ppt. F ex if I wear to update a spesific number every month in my monthly report. Like "this month returns = 1,0%" I would like to use the same excel worksheet for every number. That way I can only update the excel sheet every month and then print a new ppt report every month, but with a nice layout as well?

Hi Roger, I'm glad this video was helpful for you, thanks for watching. If you link the data in the Excel sheet, it'll update in the PowerPoint presentation. You should update the Excel sheet with any/all formulas for each month. From there, only link the data that you want displayed in PowerPoint. As long as you update the Excel report every month, the numbers should autopopulate in PowerPoint. Regarding the layout, you can update the layout of the chart in Excel or PowerPoint to fit the layout of your presentation. The updating of number values will not effect that.

Hi Jan, You would need to input the data after embedding the data for it to update on the PowerPoint. You can have text in the Excel sheet appear on the PPT, but the formatting may get messed up since PowerPoint is usually expecting numbers from an Excel object. You can add sound by recording audio to the individual slides. I hope this helps, thanks for watching.

Great video! I have just ust one question. I have info in Excel where some cells have a blue background. When I use you're method and I paste the cells, I can not adjust the background color of this specific cells to the used colors in all the sheets of the Powerpoint. Hi! A have a problem due to the fact that I don´t have that option "paste link". I use Powerpoint for Mac and I can´t seem to find a way to update links at all. If I double klick on the area that I have copied and paste from excel, a new version of excel document opens. Not the original one. I would like to have one big excel document linked to different slides in ppt showing different areas of the excel document. I want them all to update ones I have updated that original excel document. But I can´t figure out how to link it since that is not an option. Any ideas?

Hi Carolina, I'm not entirely sure how to do this because I haven't done this on a Mac before. My recommendation is to use a Windows computer if you're trying to do more advanced features in Office. Unfortunately, a lot of nice features in Office are not included in Mac versions of the software. I'll look into this, but I'm sorry I cannot help more.

nice video, could i ask 3 more questions: 1. i have set the connection between the PPT1 and EXCEL1, I need to make the next monthly report so I need to make a copy of both and change the name to PPT2 and EXCEL2. Hi Celine, No problem here are some answers: 1. The link will be broken as soon as you change the file name or location. You will need to reestablish the link monthly. 2. Unfortunately, the sizing doesn't always work correctly on the link. You will need to manually resize within PowerPoint to make it work. 3. Yes, as long as the 2 tables are linked and the data that you're changing in one is linked in the other, then the change will be updated in both versions. I hope these answers help you out.

Hi Lee oo, Make sure that you didn't move the Excel file to another location. If anything, delete the link and re-link the spreadsheet. Errors usually happen like this when files get moved around.

Thank you for this video. Is it possible to embed a multi-worksheet Excel file into PowerPoint and then be able to access all of the worksheets, freeze panes, filters, etc.? I don’t want the users to launch Excel at all, but be able to access all of these features from within PPT just as you can with Excel Services for SharePoint. Hi Shane, I'm not sure that you can do that. Typically, PowerPoint only pulls one excel worksheet from what I understand. I suppose you could create multiple slides with each slide embedding a different worksheet in your workbook. I do not believe you'd be able to switch between sheets within PowerPoint. Recently power point stopped allowing me to resize an embedded excel file. For example. I embed a 100 row file and I want to resize to show 50 rows. I can no longer access the handles. It defaults to opening excel in a separate window. Anybody else experiencing this or know why?
