I have two of the Black & Decker made Powershots. One is very old and just bought a like new one recently. They work very well. The magazines are exactly like the one you disassembled. Drives the 17/32" divergent point staples all the way. I hold it with my middle finger in the round hole for better leverage. Have other staplers as well. Depending on what I'm working on, some work better than others. Same goes with other tools.

I have a Mastercraft branded one and I always thought it was orientated like that to hold the nose down flat on the stapling surface. Where as the more traditional staplers when they shoot the staple your hand was now lower and positioned farther back taking the pressure off the front nose where the staple came out. But, your explanation does make sense since I need to hammer down all the staples after putting vapor barrier up on 2 x 4s.

I have a Powershot Pro (the steel bodied one) and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately they do have reliability issues. One thing you didn't address is that conventional staplers have an issue with bounce. I always have to use one hand to push against the head of a conventional stapler and the other to squeeze the trigger. If I don't do that then the stapler kind of bounces against the surface and the staple doesn't go in properly. I never had the problem with the Powershot Pro. It was the first stapler that I could use one handed. I built several plastic mold containment structures with it and it worked great. I never had an issue with hand placement in confined spaces. Also, I don't understand your comment about pushups vs pullups. Pushups are way easier.
@CatusMaximus6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment yes I was not clear about push up and pull up I understand and feel the same way where the PowerShot is easier in many situations but it seems that driving mini Staples there's a lot of extra motion

I held my Power Shot Pro backwards like that office stapler because it became way easier to use and drove the staples in further.

Yes I forgot to mention that they are easier to use backwards but there are better staplers. I just posted a video discussing some

After many years of use with my Arrow stapler, decided to try something different. If felt good in my hand, didn't seem like it took much pressure to operate, seemed less than the Arrow. I'm not sure it drove staples into wood for my shooting targets all that well, but it seemed OK. The instructions said to use only genuine Arrow staples, so I did. It didn't take but 20 - 30 staples and the unit jammed. I was able to pull the bent staple out but it jammed again. It is going back to the store tomorrow for a refund, I will be going back to the Arrow. The Arrow might not be as ergonomic but I feel it is a better quality tool. The salesman said, give it a try, if it doesn't work, bring it back.

I have one of the original Powershots. While it still works and has never jammed, I can confirm that it never drove a half inch staple deep enough to be useful.
@6Sally54 жыл бұрын
Bought one at HD a couple days ago to be used for tacking targets up. On the third squeeze, something popped inside and it didn’t work. At hone, I watched the only two videos I could find for how to take this apart and reassemble. They were the poorest produced vids I think I’ve ever seen and though I’m pretty good at assembling things, I never could get this pos back together so into the trash can...$20 wasted!

this works for paper too? does anyone tried?
@CatusMaximus6 жыл бұрын
Yes the little desk stapler paperpro is specifically designed for paper
@mikeRadamz3 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely correct! Mine barely got any use, when I did use it, it jammed constantly. I thought that the design made sense with pressure directly over the work to keep the gun from bouncing but I was wrong! What a useless piece of junk.

@CatusMaximus6 жыл бұрын
Yeah they really made some waves when they came out too bad they just weren't made very well. And the design was an attempt to be Innovative and I credit them for that it just didn't end up working out to be as ergonomic as they had hoped

@jarrodmaddux90118 ай бұрын
Dude that was some rambling nonsense you just spewed all over us. The powershot and other brand knockoffs like the craftsman fireshot etc... do not have any of the issues you described with ergonomics, grip size, position of hand, ability to reach tighter spaces etc... they are in every way superior to traditional staplers with the very big very important exception that they just, for some reason are not powerful enough. That's it. Nothing else. If they could fix that one very important issue these things would have completely replaced the traditional staple gun a decade ago.

@@CatusMaximus I just spent 2 hours trying to staple some hard ware cloth with the power shot using 9/16 staples it want drive them in but half way I hammered them down being a bit OCD it looked like crap and even though it's just a chicken coop I removed all them and went to Ace and got a $15 Stanley used the same staples it drove almost everyone all the way in. The only reason I tried the overpriced Power shot was because my brother got It for Christmas at work. I think my other brother has my old Stanley.
