I don’t want to say never, but it is unlikely I get another Power Rack or Smith Machine. I’ve had 3 Power Racks and 5 Smith Machines over the years and I think my barbell lifting days are behind me and if I get a Smith, it will need something other than a straight bar. Honestly, I’m just not a fan of rack-mounted lever arms…seem like a hassle compared to the lever arms on the Multipress and Levergym. Greatly appreciate your comment. Thanks so much!

Appreciate that. I almost got one of Rep’s Power Racks a year or so ago. Now, I’m glad I didn’t. My training is very different than most as I don’t own a single barbell (minus my EZ Curl Bar). My DC Training Days and HIT training got me into machines and, aside from dumbbells, it’s unlikely I’ll ever do much free weight work again. It’s the little details with Titan…for example, the powder coat weight horn I show in this video. Some of their stuff is decent, but I don’t think their quality matches their steadily rising prices. As for benches, I’ll never find a better bench (for me) than my old red bench. I like the Powertec bench for its attachments.

Another great "Ah Ha moment" there HGHR! I will love to try out the fly hack by turning the handles around and use handles just like you show. Thanks for another fantastic idea buddy 👍 Also I like the direction you are taking to focus on multi function machines, with powertec being a fundamental part of that. That said, have you ever considered the body solid g6b? I picked one up 2nd hand but near mint condition several months back. With the upgraded stack and can get away with a gympin if I put the original selector pin on a weight pin below the gym pin, making for a beast of a total max weight, just like powertec stacks with horns. To my suprise, the G6B has been an excellent utility tool. in my opinion it is a perfect compliment to the powertec lever gym. With the converging arms of the body solid backed up with the uni/bi lateral straight arms of the powertec. The convenience of the stack over the levergym is a bonus. I don't like the G6B as much for pulldowns and rows (could be different if I had aluminium pulleys?), but I think the pec fly arms, converging arms and leg extension etc. are excellent! While I can max out the powertec leg ex, and even a hammer strength leg ex. The body solid kicks my butt way before it's max due to the >1:2< ratio on that exercise. It is no replacement for a lever gym due to sheer versatility overall, but an excellent duo machine combo, opening many doors of or when one is into supersetting or the like, again, in my opinion. I would love to see you review a G6B if that is something that interests you?

@johnpain8380 Жыл бұрын
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Thanks I will do once I can carve out some time for the hack, comparing it to both the regular powertec fly configuration first, the G6B fly and your hack. I agree that the powertec fly is shoulder friendly (relatively speaking), so I will be looking forward to a different feel that the hack could offer also. I found personally that the powertec fly was/is superb for developing the outer upper mid - outer upper chest, and the G6B more so a detailed deep isolated contraction towards the inner chest fibers. Yes, power plant gym looks like it could take a good turn for sure! I will be interested as always to see the journey your gym evolutions take. It is a shame Body solid are not playing your kind of game?! I think they have some fantastic, slightly more robust products as I have owned both body solid and powertec pieces over the years. I feel that powertec have tryed to market their products at least somewhat over the years, with bodybuilders such as lee priest, Jay Cutler and Kia green praising the product relativity for any fitness level, and Rob Riches having done some nice videos for them over the years also, I also feel that bodysolid have made less effort to invest in what is, like I say, a robust overall product line. Affiliations and politics aside, I would still love for you to take a punt on a G6B review (funds and space permitting) as it could fetch a good amount of views as so little have been showcased by others. Aside from the fact that the G6B is like I say, a wonderful compliment to the highly versatile, yet plate loaded only, yet still legendary, Levergym. Thanks again for another great, informative video by the way mate.

@johnpain8380 Жыл бұрын
Hey HGHR. You said you would like to know my thoughts on the powertec fly hack once I had chance to do so. So here are my findings. I mentioned in a previous comment that I believed the standard powertec fly was great for developing the more so outer region of the pecs. This still holds true. The hack I believe by feeling alone hits more so the mid to inner portion on the pecs.. not that the regular version does not but I felt a great contraction on this area doing it HIT style, something Atkin to the deep burn I would expect only if doing multiple work sets on chest. So while I still see value in the regular version of the fly as standard, I also note value of the hack for slightly different reasons as mentioned. That said, thanks for the hack! On by the way, did you get round to trying the two arm lateral raise on the lever gym. Where elbows start by your side and come up so knuckles of both hands touch? I am still loving this exercise, personally as a single set superset at the end of dips. That is one heck of an intense superset for the side delts! Especially convenient as the pin settings on the levergym for me are the same for the dip and the lateral raise, so I can load the press arms first, then after my weighted dips - simply ditch the dip belt, turn around and get right into the delt finisher. I just wish the exercise did not cut into my forearms as much is all. I Would love in turn to hear your thoughts on this exercise buddy.

Why were you wanting to get rid of the Signature Fitness Hip Thrust Machine? Does it not function well for you? My biggest worry would be if the belt could be adjusted tight enough.
@HomeGymHacksandReviews Жыл бұрын
Just because it wouldn’t fit in the garage. However, when I sold the Titan Fly and Rogue Echo Bike, space in the Bonus Room became available. As for the belt, when I first got the machine I was 190…I’m now 160 and it still fits me. I think with the updated model, the belt adjusts differently. There is also the option to add a hip thrust pad or something similar between your hips and the belt. I just used it on my last leg day and it worked very well. I will say, now that I’ve lost a lot of weight, it’s not quite as comfortable because I don’t have as much “cushion,” so now I just lighten the load and do higher reps. Did you also sell Angles 90 grips? I thought you were still using them
@HomeGymHacksandReviews Жыл бұрын
I still have 2 sets. However, I switched exclusively to my revolving handles. At some point, I may use them again, but, in good conscience, I can’t be an affiliate for a brand if I’m not using their equipment.
@robcoombes4549 Жыл бұрын
Nice! Would it work (and change the resistance profile) if you elevated the end of the bench with the pec fly (so the angle is a bit more like the Fettle Fitness incline plate loaded fly, or the old standalone pec fly that powertec used to make)
@HomeGymHacksandReviews Жыл бұрын
Possibly. I may end up giving that a try. I would love for Powertec to sell that old stand-alone Pec Fly; I’ve always heard good things about.

The 2.1 ratio of levergym is not good i think, 300 ppunds are 150 in reality so really light.. vs a 1:1 over pulley. What didi you think ?
@HomeGymHacksandReviews Жыл бұрын
It depends on how strong you are. I have loaded the machine with (6) 45s on a couple of occasions and I doubt I ever exceed that for any cable exercise. I’ve never used the machine for any lever arm or cable exercise and thought the max capacity wasn’t enough.

If money isn't an option would you go with the wbls-20 or the multi bench with all attachments. Thanks
@HomeGymHacksandReviews Жыл бұрын
That’s a really tough call. I have a video called, “The one piece of equipment I would have if I could only have one: The Powertec Levergym.”However, with all the attachments it’s a little more tricky. Now if you swap out the utility bench for the Multipress it becomes much more difficult because I like pressing better on the Multipress.

Have you ever owned the powertec workbench multisystem? Just wanted to know if the powertec leveage lat pulldown was effective.
@HomeGymHacksandReviews Жыл бұрын
I have not. I think a cable pulldown (like the Levergym) is better and more versatile. However, I do think the pressing station and squat station are better on the Multisystem.
@ryang7684 Жыл бұрын
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Thanks for the reply. I have owned the levergym for years and love it. I just would love the multi press bench over the levergym for better angles as you have mentioned in videos for flat bench etc. I might just purchase multi press station on its own instead then. That's helps me a lot with my choice. Thanks and your channel is a gold mine for us powertec lovers.. truelly grateful for your content.

@@yonifarrell2407 without actually trying them, I can’t guarantee they work as well, but Bells has some functional trainer handles. Maybe Amazon too. Presently, I’m using hanging ab straps so I don’t reaggravate my golfer’s elbow.

I can't figure out how you put the handles on, i keep pausing the video to try see the attachment your using on the handle for the hack
@HomeGymHacksandReviews Жыл бұрын
I connected the two rings on the handle with a carabiner to shorten the handle and I just place it around the handle. Once there, tension keeps it in place. There are the handles that came with the streamline functional trainer.

Why are you getting rid of the hip thrust already
@HomeGymHacksandReviews Жыл бұрын
I’m not. In this video, I said I was going to sell it, but my wife wouldn’t let me. When I cleared out the equipment in her office, there wasn’t room in the garage. However, after I sold the Echo Bike and Titan Fly Machine that were in my bonus room, space for the hip thrust became available. I’m glad I didn’t sell it because I do really like including the exercise on leg days and my wife loves the machine.

There is certainly a trade-off…equipment that takes up less space and offers greater versatility vs bigger more heavy-duty equipment. If I thought it was a massive downgrade, I wouldn’t have done it.
