Powertech Diesel RV Generator Marathon Pancake Head testing

Here is a short video hopefully helps others with this type of generator in there food truck or RV / Motorhome. Help you test if you need a new head, Brushes or AVR. i used my own video just recently to repair another one of these generators so i hope can help someone else!

I had a very similar experience as you only it cost me $1000 plus to find out the regulator was bad as I initially suspected.

When you put 12volt to the brushes we’re did you put the negative to the generator? Thanks

Did you hook the negative from your 12 volt battery to the F - wire and the F + to the positive on the battery?

Yes this is what I think I did. Again it’s been 3 years

Negative from battery to generator were did you attach it thanks

It’s been a few years since I did this. I can’t remember 100% but I think avr sends a dc voltage signal to the brushes to maintain the correct a/c voltage so my initial thought is to send the 12v to the brushes
