RRTS is AC vehicle, Local trains are mass carrier of people with wide doors for easy entry and exit. RRTS can be done for say Mumbai Central to Thane, because distance inbetween is 60Km. It can not be run for stoppages of 1-2kms.

Just a small correction. You mentioned that all metros in India are independent and run by the state or city. Kolkata metro is the only metro that is run by Indian Railways.

If the Railway Minister provides adequate budget to Kolkata metro then it complete projects faster. Converting all Locals with AC Locals is the best solution for Mumbai. For the amount of taxes paid by Mumbaikars, this is the least India should do for them. Also, since we Indians are indisciplined by nature, AC locals will prevent us from: 1. Hanging on doors. 2. Jumping out of trains before halting at station. 3. Throwing waste & spitting out of doors/ windows.

If having fully AC locals means that people would willingly shift to using the train and move away from cars, we will be able to decrease pollution dramatically. The productivity of people will increase and they will have a much nicer commute than what they currently have. Also, if you really want to go and ' save the environment ', I better not hear even a single utterance of a comparison between Indian Railways and railways within developed countries from you. You have to understand that there is always a trade-off.

In Chennai blue and green line metro has interchangeability. One train in blue line from airport takes blue line and next takes green line. Green line has different origin station. Interchange happens inbetween

Based on my observation, people are mostly based on aesthetics rather than utility or functionality. if space was available in Mumbai, RRTS could have built to supplement the Indian local train system even now, fast trains can ideally (not practical though) be replaced by a broad-gauge variant of RRTS so that they stop at fast stops but it would need a lot of infrastructure changes. . currently Mumbai locals run on the format Slow down (track1) / slow up (track2) / Fast down (track3) / fast up (track4). so, if one has to go from churchgate to villeparle station, they can either get a slow train from churchgate to ville parle or he/she can get into a fast train till Bandra, then cross platforms at Bandra from track3 platform to track1 platform to catch the slow train so he/she has to get down the train, climb up the staircase, walk the gangway, then go down the staircase of platform1 and then catch the slow train from Bandra to villeparle .(some go till Andheri and then catch the reverse slow train back to villeparle. this is needed at times since traffic in Mumbai trains depends on time of the day).

Now if Mumbai train system used a different system of Slow down (track1) / Fast down (track2) / fast up (track3) / slow up (track4) with platforms on both sides of the slow tracks (1 and 4) at fast train stops, then one catching the train till bandra could simply get down at bandra fast platform2 where slow trains would be available on the other side of the same platform. the person simply get the slow train on the same platform, they dont need to go up and down the staircase. the person will have to climb up and down the staircase only to exit the station. not while changing from slow to fast or vice-versa. many places in Indian rail network esp eastern and northeastern railway have a 3-track system where the middle track is bidirectional and used in either direction according to requirement.

this slow down fast down fast up slow up is in used in New York metro where they have 4 lines, inner two lines have fast trains stopping at main points (interchange points) while outer two have slow trains stopping at all stops. so, at interchange points, one just has to get down on one platform and then catch the slow train on the other side of the same platform. no climbing up /down unless one wants to exit the station.

RRTS speedsv@160kmph with commendable acceleration, all coaches have ac and doors for travel comfort, runs on elevated corridor which solves various issues last but not the least their signalling are to European latest standards. In all you get very good system completely managed by good team . Alstom is a complete solution provider. Indian Railways to me a sleeping elephant.

@@manishgurav2369 not yet. But there is a possibility of it happening in the future. If that is not there, then we'll always have VB (which is at a similar speed as RRTS). Once tracks are upgraded, a faster train could be developed in the future maybe reaching 200-250 kmph. If we're able to reach speeds of 160 & 180 kmph now, then it is definitely possible.

Replace local trains with AC trains and add dedicated stations for boarding/de-boarding with gates similar to Metro trains gates. This is difficult task but feasible. It has been done by many countries.

you have explained the purpose of every service properly.. just that pn Paper every thing is possible for eg rrts can be implemented but for longer duration and faster from within mumbai to outside, for eg starting from churchgate and going along the fast local lines uptill virar and then one or 2 tier 2 cities outside so that people can use it as an alternative similarly another east west connected line with connections outside city like with pune....the main problem is even if a private entity comes for planning and execution the land will not be available plus by the time they will construct it the population would already increase manifolds...so ultimately locals will always have crowd

RRTS is between nearby cities. Each Station will be in gap of 5 kms. Railways will be bringing Vande Metro and Metro Lite. Metro runs on elevated corridors or underground. Local trains runs on same tracks as super fast and passenger trains. Only change required in Mumbai local trains is make them full AC with closed door system so that we can save lives lost in falling of overpacked Mumbai local trains everyday. Let people make a line to enter local trains with proper security stopping more people to enter once full rather than rushing in like mad dogs.

New metro opened in Navi Mumbai from Belapur doesn't have commuters as buses and sharing autos dominate people have to walk too much for metro, auto and buses are easily accessible and way more cheaper for common people

Kalyan-Dombivili to Dadar & vice versa mumbaikar need something new as this section is almost exhausted. You can't catch a train from Dombivli-Diva-Mumbra-Kalwa during peak hrs, it is almost impossible.

Why to build independent rrts system? Why not like other countries which run rapid transit on conventional rail? Why should we spend so much money on fancy trains instead of improving existing rail network? We should improve existing rail, existing trains AND THEN make new fancy trains

Solution to Reduce Mumbai Local Train Crowd is first Maharashtra Government should stop providing jobs for outside north or south side people until unless they are getting placement or any assurance through government or private companies to work in Mumbai and especially those who are coming to put stall and do business like illiterate people. and also prevent college higher studies for other side state students. this makes lots of hectic while travelling. and Main thing is All Mumbai local trains should be converted into AC local train with plus point is all passengers will be safe inside the train with door closed and prices should be range from 30 to 35 to 40 to 50 to 60 to 70 to 100 for each next 5 stations it should increase like that.

That is a really silly solution, already the migration rate to Mumbai is the lowest in decades, this kind of policies will cause Mumbai to become another Kolkata. Better thing will be to modernise the station, maybe make seperate tracks for the locals(similar to london tube by cut and cover under existing stations) and install automatic ticket checkers, then subsequently increase frequency.
