Powertune Digital Dash basics PT1

hey! im kind stuck at the win scp connection step! just to be certain since the digital dash network layout seem to have change since your video. my ip adress is labeled as : "WLAN IP Adress" on the dash ? In win scp the "host name" is the ip adress ? The User name is suposed to be "pi" or "pie" ? The pasword is "Raspberry"? because when i try this way it says "acces denied" (i got de v5 dash)

Yup host name is the ip. And user name for v5 is root and no password there has been a few updates since this vid

Im struggling to get a boot logo added. I made the PNG file but cant find where all the logo files are? V5 DASH

it appears the latest versions of the digital dash dont have a bootvideo.mp4 in the directory? I added a mp4 vid and renamed it exactly the same as your video but it doesnt play.

That's correct the new v5 does not have a boot video option

@@sandybill1766 they changed from a pi3 to 4? Not sure the exact series either way it just happened to be a built in feature of the old pi. I did a little research into adding one but have been too busy to play with my powertune for a while

Hi Ive just installed 2 screens to on a GM vehicle. How do I get both to read and disply can bus info? I can get one or the other but not both at the same time.. I am obviously missing something. BTW, Great video. cheers

i changed my logo a few times and now i just get a black screen im not sure why. even tried the old png that work and the start up screen plays but logo all blacked out

Have to make sure they are the correct ration and file type and the file name is unchanged

What did you use as a trigger for the gear selection? From the shifter itself.

Yea I've got gear position into my ecu off my sequential gearbox. You can do gear via calculation on the dash and though the link ecu too I'm sure others are the same

I'm assuming you put it into the correct location replacement the original then possibly too large a file size?

Hey great video by the way but I’m just curious is it possible to set up the dash as normal display like warning lights such as indicator signals, check engine,high and low beam, etc? I’ve try to find any video on how to set it up as clean as posibble without ordering custom mount that add lights or pod mount to custom cluster mount. Any answer would be grateful. Thanks in advance.

Yes you can if you have the data. So you will need a way to have that information sent to the dash. You could wire things to your aftermarket ecu to send the data. But in my experience I'm normally maxing out my ecu with important sensors indicators is a waste. You can buy a can expander then you can add handbrake light, indicators, fuel ect directly to the dash

Do you need a stand alone ecu or can you just plug the raspberry pi in the stock ecu ?

Check out the powertune digital official store. It works with some factory ecus and also a wire in option is available

Make sure no caps and that you have the correct ip

do you know if this dash will work with a Greddy Emanage Ultimate ? to connect my laptop its usb-A to usb-B

You'd have to check in with powertune themselves but I dont recall seeing emanage on the list of supported eucs

You can get a separate module like I did which uses generic analog and digital signals direct from sensors so even if you have a model t you it will work with your car.

Is there a way to add an audible warning? Powertune digital mention it on their site but I haven't seen anyone do it. Would you just be able to make a state gif, select an mp3 file and tie it to a certain parameter? I am yet to play around with it

As anothony said needs the ip of your dash to know what to connect to. As everything with tech the video is a bit dated now as powertune made some changes to password and ip address location I'll do another vid soon
