Love the video series so far. Good to get a more in-depth guide on how you can do things. Would love to see a little bit more on what you're doing with your templates on photoshop, regarding layers, and creating different templates for redline warnings etc. Looking forward to the next video !

Its quite hard to decide how much detail to go with the videos as they get very long very quickly there is alot I left out as I figure I'm probably not the best to do a photoshop tutorial as alot of times I myself am looking up how to do things on KZbin videos as I do them

Does this unit come with its own failsafe protection,do it have any internal cooling fan. Any drawback?

So how would you make a gauge that's not bars, but with needle? you'd need an image for every possible increment of the needle?
@GasketFuka3 жыл бұрын
I'd just use the dial guage that is in the factory options on the powertune. You can play with all the settings and turn everything off except for the needle itself if you want and draw your own background

@@GasketFuka Thanks for the reply, what about numbers? Are you able to load your own text files if you want the numbers to match the text you used on the background? Example, I'm making a background that uses a text I downloaded and has writing on it, I'd like the numbers to match, so is it possible to get the power tune to use the same text font?

I am late to the party, but can you also set up the odometer? And start it off at a preset number?
@GasketFuka11 ай бұрын
Not sure about picking a start number tbh. When It.first came out the odo was a bit buggy but I think they have made it better in New patches but I don't personally use it

what is the lap timer section like and what NZ tracks do they have preloaded if any?
@GasketFuka3 жыл бұрын
There was a few north island tracks I've added ruapuna and levels if you update tracks youl get those. It's not too hard to Make your own. I haven't had an opportunity to actually test the lap timer yet though

question if i use your dash parameters but im using fahrenheit instead of Celcius do the temp numbers need to change or will the ecu understand and convert?
@GasketFuka3 жыл бұрын
It should just display what your ecu does so if that's in Fahrenheit will be the same

how'd you get a mouse plugged in to it? are there usb ports under the rear cover (just got mine delivered today so not tore it apart yet :D)

The early models had usb ports I can actually remember if the new ones do under the cover

@@GasketFuka they do but i plugged my mouse in yesterday and it wasnt picked up on the device :( i've messaged powertune to see how to resolve coz it's near impossible to do the layout using the clunky touch screen
@GasketFuka2 жыл бұрын
It's good for getting things in the close spot even with the mouse I always tidy things up in the text files. You can put everything on the same x or y axis to get them lined up
@ryanthescot2 жыл бұрын
@@GasketFuka yeah i had a good play around with it yesterday and like you said for fine tuning the text files are the best way. part of the problem with those is that there's 0 documentation (that i can find) about what each value represents which makes it very difficult for someone new to just pick up and start modifying the values. only thing i think might be able to reference is the initialisation parameters for each gauge type in the .cpp files on github but i've not checked that yet. since it's quite a disjointed experience of having to make the changes on my PC then transfer them to the device it would be nicer to get the mouse working so that it's not a completely hateful experience working with the touch screen. also big thanks for your videos as without them i'd have no idea where to start

What is the size to use for having the background at the correct ratio?
@GasketFuka3 жыл бұрын
If you go into into the files the powertune and copy bull 2 for example across and just use that as a template is what it did

hmmmm, I'm sorry Baxter, you know I don't speak Spanish.....!! Good vid, I'm terrible with computers however I am going to buy a Power Tune Dash and attempt to make my own - going to copy another high end dash which looks to be a complex layout..and I have a mac so this will be interesting or maybe frustratingly bad😂 Cheers

Can you share the design file so others can use?
@84eighty.7 ай бұрын
Will this work with the new 10.4 wide screen dash now offered by Powertune or will it all need to be repositioned individually , only looking at buying one as its cheaper than buying an original AE86 digital dash. and wiring it in. cheers for your time mate.
