The Day Paola Egonu Destroyed Volleyball Team Thailand !!! A few days ago, a volleyball match took place between the volleyball team Thailand and Italy. Italy beat Thailand, and the best player was Paola Egonu, who literally destroyed Thailand with 24 points, and thus brought almost a third of the points to her team. Today, both teams are playing the quarterfinals of the volleyball nations league 2022. Today, Thailand is playing against Turkey and Italy against China. Wish them luck.
Paola Ogechi Egonu (born 18 December 1998) is Italian volleyball player of Nigerian descent.[3] She plays for Turkish volleyball club VakıfBank S.K. and is part of the Italy women's national volleyball team. She participated at the 2018 Montreux Volley Masters,[1] 2018 FIVB Volleyball World Championship,[4] and 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League.[5]
On club level she played for Club Italia in 2015.[6] She was selected to play the Italian League All-Star game in 2017.[7] In 2017 she moved to AGIL Novara.
She was awarded the prize for Woman of the Year 2019 by D - la Repubblica delle donne, a weekly magazine of la Repubblica.[8]
She was one of the flagbearers of the Olympic Flag at the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo.

They kept her on the bench until that day. I'm Thai and I remembered watching the match live like a horror movie. Our floor defense was great but Egonu just ripped everything, then their blocking and floor defense swallowed us alive. Yet you can't help but fall in love with her volleyball.

It’s mostly due to height difference and athleticism imo. Thailand probably has a very short average height, even compared to other countries in Asia, let alone countries from Europe and other regions of the world. Skill wise i don’t see much difference but in terms of physical attributes, Thailand kind of falls behind.

I think female net is too low for the actual players skills... it's 2.24 compare to male 2.43, maybe somewhere in between 2.31/2.32?

I think the best argument for raising the net height would be that offense is too dominant over defense, but I don't see it. Overall, floor defense is already strong in the women's game so I don't think raising the net is needed or desirable to improve gameplay.

I don't agree. Actually there are more long rallies and successful defenses in women volley than men, so why make it more difficult for the attackers? Did you see the thai block? with 10 cm more of net they wouldn't be able to block anything.

There are men TEAMS that spike at an average of 3.10 with top spikers that can hit up to 3.30. Imho the net is fine like it is, increasing its height will favor the athletes with the best physical attributes, not the contrary

Şuna bak Taylandlılar bile boylarına bakmadan nasıl mücadele etmiş İtalyayla bizimkiler hemen havlu attı. Taylandın boy ortalaması 175-178 gibi bir şey arkadaşlar yani çok kısa bir ortalama. Ve bu oyuncular ilk seti 24-20 kaybediyor üstelik Egonuya karşı. Şu mücadeleyi Sırbistana karşı bile gösteremedik üstelik Boskoviç de yoktu. Bizimkiler mental olarak düşüyor hemen spor psikologu müdahale ediyordur umarım.
