Bezels are super important when playing on a lager screen, so yeah it looks great. It seems they has some care towards how devices feel to hold. It's mad how the you know what ended up there, thanks God you can change the theme. Powkiddy do rush and cut corners but with this chip set the didn't need to. Besides that looks like it feels great. Thanks for another awesome review. Really like this style you got going on with these reviews👌🏾

Looks nice. Love the fact the joysticks are on the bottom. And it looks very user friendly. Its a shame it came out too late. I would have gotten this over the Retroid pocket 2 if it came out when the RP2 came out. But hopefully this form factor will be the standard in their future releases that have more powerful chips.

This looks good,but I am waiting until they start using a low end octocore cpu and that will allow the addition of psp and dreamcast to be played with ease on most titles. The cheap octocores are being used in low end tablets so hopefully soon the handhelds will get them as well.

No, The 3326 is DOA and has been. They have been polishing this crap CPU for years. Unless you start gold-plating the housing there is no justification to pay over $80 for that.

@@jonathonearl482 I have the 512gb steam deck reserved so I can understand that, I consider the steam deck to be a whole different beast tho, and I have an unhealthy obsession with collecting handhelds so the rg552 is a must buy for me, anbernic makes the best emulation handhelds in terms of build quality, wish they’d use a snapdragon 8xx series chip or try something different like a clamshell, I’d be willing to pay more something that really had the power for top emulation up to ps2 and then whatever ps2 games work with the continued optimization with the android emulator is just a bonus

I’m new to portable emulators, but they sounded very cool. So I decided to purchase the max 2. It gives me something to play with while I’m going through Chemo. After playing with it for a day I decided to backup the SD card, just in case something went wrong. I popped the SD card into my Windows 7 computer states and copied the files. I then put the SD card back into the unit and turned it on. Instead of getting the scrolling list of icons (one for each type of system-GB, GBA, etc) I get a single button that says something like 1 (I don’t have the max2 with me right now). When I select it, I get a list of all the the folders/games. I could switch to RetroOz, but I’m worried that changing OS could make it worse. Any suggestion on how to fix it?

Do you know if the OGT port allows for a hub so that you can output to TV and use controllers? This is one of the most make or break features for me and I've noticed no KZbinrs cover the subject. I just received my handheld and love it. How to make it so the games display across the entire screen instead of having the bars on the sides.

If you do that you are stretching the image so will have that squashed look for most systems. GBA should still look OK though. If you want to do that go to settings, disable decorations (bezels) and change aspect ratio option to 16:9. This will stretch the display but again.. Will look squashed slightly Try 16;10,you will have small bars but wont look as stretched.

No. Even 870 that emulator have constant frame issue. Taki just use unlocked frame. In real that's simply no playable state.

Well, the Max 3 was supposed to be out over half year ago I believe and still nothing yet. Dont know much about it. The Max 2 is still a great choice even now if you are new to all this. Has a very nice 5" screen. But limited performance for Dreamcast, N64 and PSP. Some OS's are better than others though for those. I know you want an easy out of the box play experience but if you get one you are still best off flashing your own OS and making your own build. There are guides on it. Or at the very least back up the card it comes with and flash it to a brand name card like sandisk or samsung cause the cards they come with are generic ones and more prone to fail.

One minor but annoying bug in the Max2 or rather EmuELEC (I’ve found) is with the L3 and R2 buttons … I’ll let you discover it for yourself but try accidentally pressing R2 whilst already holding down L3 mid gameplay 🥴 the ‘fix’ is to have headphones plugged in which bypasses the problem 👍🏼 … also deep in the RetroArch settings someone set L3 as rapid fire making one of my all time favourite PC Engine games, Parasol Stars, difficult to play (this one is easy fixed by remapping L3) … but even with these two small qwerks I think this is a great device, and my go-to handheld 🤩 the next incremental update to the firmware / EmuELEC will likely remedy these anyhow (got to stress I don’t think the problem is with the device but with EmuELEC 4.3)

@@RetroDodo I only spotted it after remapping Afterburner controls to use R2 for missiles (on both PC Engine and Genesis). … after over eagerly pushing my F-14 Tomcat into barrel roles, on either system (and accidentally pressing L3) I seriously began to think my device was faulty 😆

Hey! So what’s a good retro emulating console where I can play 3DS/2DS games? I know they are very recent but yeah I have been looking to buy some good handhelds which can let me play 3DS, Gameboy games. @@ChodyRay don't get me wrong. I don't have a problem with them being comfortable. But part of that "retro" design was it's unfortunately it's uncomfortable nature. I mean from the OG game boy to the game boy advance SP. There was always some bigger uncomfortable design "flaw". But in their flawed matte, that's what made them perfect. Let's take the SEGA game gear. It was "modern" and "comfortable" but It was flying car modern. It felt like something that wouldn't ever exist. With this design it feels like it's trying too hard to be the Nintendo switch OLED.

It does run most DS games, some at enhanced resolution mode, but youd have to test and set that per game. Also, depends on what OS you use. Dont know if the OS they use it ships with supports DS or not. But the device itself is capable of playing most or many DS yeah.
