Imo wilson is underrated tbh. The majority of strategies you use with him can be used with other characters as well, so he's actually a good introduction for novice players

Having played DST since launch, he's the best character. No downsides, beard, and now with the skill tree - even more upsides. You can play him in a world from start to finish, and you'll run into no trouble; not even an annoyance. And the funny thing is - back in the beginning, I was a Webber, and I used to ban Wilsons because I thought they were all noobs. Funny how things change.

It’s amazing how much you can forget when playing one character for so long, I’ve played Wendy so long that I’ve grown into the “you can only do 50 damage with a dark sword” mindset

I found myself unironically becoming a Wilson main after his skill tree, there are so many little convenient things that his alchemy branch allows you to do. Need a bunch of crock pots but you don't have enough stone to throw around? knock down a few statues and convert the marble into smooth stone. Need beefalo hair for winter but you don't have any beefalo? Shave your beard and turn it into beefalo hair. Don't have any stone but you're overflowing with flint? turn half your flint into stone and even out your storage

Yeah I didn’t include it in the video a lot but his small transmutations come in handy when you’re in a pinch and don’t want to waste a whole day going to gather logs or something

2:01 that stage you skipped over let’s you perform, which if you do without costumes or anything spawns 4 briar wolves which give random items in sets, like tools, early game weapons or farming supplies. There’s a cooldown after you perform not really useful but it saves a little bit of time in some situations and the briar wolves have like 50 hp

R.I.P. Txe Beef 😢 Tip: Feed beefalo with Bulbs when possible, fills up Obedience so it do not drop saddle, also dismounting and ride back on beefalo when possible because refresh the cooldown that makes him bring you down.

fun fact! full beard and any winter gear does not make you overheat faster, the game actually has separate values for summer insulation (which slows heating up) and winter insulation (which slows cooling down)

Some notes about Wilson that I find interesting: Converting 1 Log into 2 Twigs makes Evergreens better than Twiggy Trees when it comes to producing Twigs, twice as many Twigs per Evergreen, and you won't have to convert the Logs into Twigs if you don't need them. This also gives you more dry ingredients for making Compost, since 1 Twig is equal to 1 Log as a dry ingredient. Converting 1 Meat into 2 Morsels resets it's freshness, meaning you can turn nearly spoiled Meat into 2 fresh Morsels, and you can then use those Morsels to get 2 Eggs per Meat instead of only 1. This can also produce double the Rot if converted early on purpose for making Compost, or just to use as Compost nutrients straight up in the form of Rotten Eggs. Converting 2 Hounds Teeth into 1 Bone Shard is a nice additional use for them, giving a new source for crafting Buckets-o-poop and for creating Mushlights/Glowcaps, as well as functioning as a surprisingly good source of Manure nutrients, all due to Hound attacks and Varg farms. Ways I could think to buff Wilson that wouldn't be over the top wacky would be to reduce the amount of Rot needed to transmute into Manure, I'm think 3 instead of 6, and reducing the amount of Marble needed to transmute into Moon Rock to 1 instead of 2, making it similar to the recipe for converting Marble into Cut Stone. Maybe I'd also reduce the amount of Nitre needed to transmute to Gold from 3 to 2.

when your beefalo disappeared in the ruins, you can tell if its alive somewhere based on the bell. if the bell just looks like an ordinary bell it is not binded to a create, i.e. it is dead. if the beefalo is alive the bell will have beefalo horns on it.
