PPD 3" PIPE HILUX - CAT AND RESONATOR

Fitted this PPD 3 inch pipe to my 2010 hilux recently, this one has the highflow cat and resonator installed. Have a listen :)

Hi Kaito. Nice job on your Hilux. I also did the 3 inch exhaust and fitted a Steinbauer chip to my 2012 Hilux. What a difference it made. A totally different driving experience. I hope you give it a suspension lift next. Bye the way, I saw you eyeballing the new mud tyres on my Hilux at driffta a couple of weeks ago. I hope you were not getting any funny ideas :) :) :)

Hey man nice vid, keen to put one on my 2012 Hilux, just a bit scared it might be too loud in the cab? Also why was it making that "howl" between gears, can you hear that in the cab? cheers mate.

For anyone interested, I ended up getting one and answering all my own questions haha. Not too loud in the cab I went with high flow cat and the resonator, I have heard the “howl” in my ute but don’t mind it. Hope this helps someone haha

my hilux started making that backdraft noise at gear changes after 8 years and 80K it was the turbo waste gate pipe it had a crack in it. maybe your gasket is leaking. it shouldnt be making that noise

Hey mate, What made you pick both resonator and cat? Like why didn’t you just get one or none or pick one over the other. I’m new to exhaust systems and was wondering the pros and cons to having resonator and/or a high flow cat. Also did the howl between gear changes come naturally or did you modify something ? Cheers

Needs cat to be roadworthy and legal. Resonator/muffler not really needed but they sound better with one and reduces drone, almost unoticable at cruising speeds. The howl you can hear is normal, just the excess boost being dumped out the exhaust between gear changes. Depends how you drive it, can be quite loud or barely noticable.

Dang that old pipe is so bad-looking compared to the new one. Now I need to pull the bad-looking one off of my FJ Cruiser and put in a nice shiny one like you did. Can you tell me about the weight difference between the two pipes? Was your upgraded pipe system heavier or lighter than the old one? Is overall weight something that you're concerned about or no?

Hey mate, nah not worried about the weight but the new one i think was lighter. Lot wider and thicker but the muffler on the old one accounted for a huge amount of weight, compared to the new muffler

Non for the turbo whistle but more drone with res still good under acceleration

You can if you want but you dont need to. Id recommend a tune over a universal chip. A tune is catered to your car and is almost the same price.
