Being passionate and always striving to be better, is always the best thing one can do to keep growing and it was clear that the TBM 850 owner passionately, loved his aircraft. This flightchops video represented more than a flight to Lake Ontario. To me, the video represented a culmination of passion, perfect video editing skills, encouragement to fly and an appreciation of these beautiful flying machines. I believe that as we become more modern and digitized in the world today, people are losing the value for flight and the idea that a human can fly in these machines. However, having seen such an enthusiastic co-pilot and owner(pilot) who clearly explains the different capabilities and flying processes involved with an aircraft, encourages me to continue training for my PPL, and strive to attain a Ferrari + TBM in a hangar too :D #BoseA20

Great video! I'm about to watch part 2 and catch more of your material, thanks for doing this. Osama is awesome too. I did notice one minor glitch that I can't help mentioning. At 5:15 you had that note that said “Beta = feathering the prop to reduce thrust”. Feathering is usually 90 degrees blade angle, like when you first saw the TBM. Its prop was knife-edged (feathered). After the engine is started the prop's blade angle is lowered from 90 down to a finer/lower blade angle. There is a hydro-mechanical system which minimizes that blade angle reduction at a set angle (18 degrees in a king air). When you select Beta (and then reverse if your PT-6 aircraft is so equipped) the blade angle is allowed to get even smaller = less thrust. So beta is smaller blade angle, feather is higher (highest actually) blade angle. Thanks again!!

Great video. Mr. Arafat seems like a very classy guy. Just one point of clarification. All the part are actually not spinning in the same direction in a reverse flow engine. Although the compressor turbines are mechanically unlinked to the propeller turbines, they are however aerodynamically linked in opposite directions so as to cancel out counter torque effects.
@FlightChops9 жыл бұрын
+Sean Lohuddin Thanks and agreed - And to be clear, I don't think he meant ALL parts rotate in the SAME direction, but rather that a given part rotates in one direction... unlike a piston engine where a given part (like a piston or valve) is reversing direction constantly.
