Absolutely wonderful. I fly out of Pearson with one of "the carriers" and this is really refreshing to see a different point of view. Osama is doing what most airline pilots wish they could - flying for leisure. Outside the airline world he is tops. Interesting to see how the Phenom is geared towards single pilot operation but it really would be a lot safer with two pilots, one flying and the other handling all the pnf duties - radios, checklists, programming etc. Awesome!
@osamaarafat6 жыл бұрын
Of course it's safer with two pilots. That's why Flightchops was in the right seat. While not rated, he did run the checklists for me and followed along the flight to make sure I didn't make any mistakes. I always try to have a pilot in the right seat even if he/she is not rated on the aircraft.

Osama Arafat Hey Osama I have a question - When your indicated air speed says 160 But True Air Speed is 344. How does that work ?
@bazzie856 жыл бұрын
@@stenny1970 indicated airspeed is the measured airspeed, but as you increase your altitude the air pressure is decreased, that results in a lower indicated airspeed, even though your speed over the ground might still be the same. The true airspeed is basically corrected for altitude, air density and temperature. Both figures are necessary. The indicated airspeed will allow you to know if you are close to your stall speed, etc. And true airspeed is good for navigational purposes.
@osamaarafat6 жыл бұрын
The air is really thin up there so the indicated airspeed sensed by the pitot tube is not your true airspeed. The Air Data Computer calculates the True Air Speed based on the altitude and temperature.

When I was in ppl training my habit of calling for wind check was quickly broken when my boss who was my final CFI stopped it. He was an old bush pilot from Alaska. He said and I quote, "what difference does it make? Fly the damn airplane not the wind. The airplane will tell you what it needs. Just fly the airplane." He was right. It doesn't matter what the wind is at the tower or wherever the instrument is, just fly the airplane. Rule number 1 in piloting. Fly the airplane. It saved my life when I had a complete engine failure on downwind departure upon throttling back from takeoff power. His training got what was a student back on the ground safely, no damage.

Awesome video! More of Osama please! Regarding Nassau Approach: I have no insight on local procedures, but in general terms the safe and smooth expedition of traffic is goal 1 in ATC, and safely making shortcuts via direct routing to FAF or visual approaches is often part of that, especially in this situation where it seemed you were no1 in front of someone that didn't have too much distance behind you. I definitely understand that the wish of a single pilot operation (with or without a safety pilot) can often be to follow briefed procedure, however this comes back full circle to what was said on departure of what is expected of a shiny fast exec jet, i.e. believing that this jet is manned by a full-time commercial multi crew and can switch to visual or skip intermediate approach waypoints without too much hassle. I agree that the way it was presented by ATC was less than optimal, and Osama handled it great, I'm just offering a little perspective without trying to excuse anyone on as to why this could happen.
@osamaarafat6 жыл бұрын
Agreed in general but I was IFR and I have every right to demand a full approach. I did and I was granted a full approach clearance. I was set up and briefed the full approach stating with RELVE as the IAF. I did not have time to brief a different approach and felt that the safest option was to stick with the briefed plan. ATC should not change your approach clearance part way through the approach. I am 100% sure I could have handled the switch to visual but I owe it to my passengers to give them the safest flight possible and that is to stick with the briefed approach. I am a safety above everything pilot.
