Thanks. I'm really enthusiastic about a ceritain speciality and I know the best oportunity is to make yourself exposed to the people and situations. I'm happy that Italy is based on this system because it's been always my method of learning even when I was in highschool I used to check other major classes that I knew is gonna be related to my future major or the other professor which isn't in our faculty is an expert in a subspeciality and I shouldn't lose the golden opportunity of learning things from her.

There is a post-grad video we just released that briefly talks about the process, but basically it's the same from any of the universities, where to appy she'll have to sit Step 1, Step 2CK, possibly 3, do clerkships in the US, and get a recommendation letter.

Hi I am a medicine student in turkey and I got accepted in foggia university as Erasmus student if I go I will go in next year I will be 4th year and I am scared because I don’t know Italian and I don’t know how you take exams in the 4th year is it just oral exams or written exams and generally in each department how many weeks it takes because it have to be equal to the weeks in turkey like we take 5weeks in gynecology department and we take it in one semester I heard in Italy some departments have to be taken in both semesters?

Can we practice anywhere (without completing studies, then after we finish the practicals we can come back to Italy)is it something like that? 4) how much Imat score can get me into sapienza? Pls reply ❤️

Hey! I can only answer question n2 as I am Italian but have lived abroad almost my whole life and am now here to study medicine - I hope this helps. The short answer is: yes, it is likely that you’ll face some issues. Italy is at its roots a very very catholic country and even though the church is not that relevant anymore, traces of it are still present here and there (for a bit of reference, church and government are independent from one another, but their relationship is mediated by a treaty from 1929 called ‘Patti Lateranensi’ which basically declare Catholicism as state religion and favours it in many ways, yet allowing space for other religions to exist within the country). Italy is becoming increasingly multicultural which has obviously made the presence of all kinds of people, religions and habits way more accepted - yet i am sadly sure you will likely face some form of stereotype or racism (on a social level) due to the way you look and/or present yourself. This is not to imply that it’s not at all accepting, just not 100%. On a positive note, you would be in a university environment so you’ll be around young people who - unlike older generations - grew up with multiculturalism so you should feel accepted and at ease even when in Caucasian-dominated groups of people. Furthermore, IMAT has a bunch of international students so it’s a very diversity-prone environment. Also, from what I’ve been told, northern Italy is a bit more welcoming than southern Italy towards diversity so maybe take that into consideration when making your choice. This is in no way meant to scare you off from studying in Italy as it is an amazing country with so much to offer. Best of luck x

Fantastic video! I’m from Ireland myself currently pursuing my undergraduate. I’m thinking of studying medicine in Italy after because honestly I simply don’t want to pursue the GAMSAT after so many tries with the HPAT. Just a couple of questions 1. Does Italy take post graduate students or do you have to be straight from high school? 2. Can I come back to Ireland for my training/does Ireland recognise the Italian med degree? Thanks 🥳

A lot of medical programs place half of the learning program to focus on training in clinical settings. You are really just trying to brush over the lack of clinical sessions in Italian medical program by saying that you need good theoretical foundations. Doctors do not need to be experts in biology or biochemistry or anatomy. There are biologists or biochemists or researchers for that purpose. What makes doctors different are the clinical skills which all the others lack. Without good exposure to clinical skills, how would you know which specialisations you prefer to do? How can you apply your theoretical learnings by not being trained at clinical settings in your medical school years? Foundation years are also used to build on the existing clinical skills that you learn in medical schools. It will be very tough to learn the basics in foundation years when you don't have the basic clinical trainings that are supposedly taught in medical schools. US, UK, Irish and Australian medical schools spend half of their time in hospitals to acquire clinical skills. There is a reason why Italian doctors can refer to textbooks when treating patients and Italians don't trust the Italian doctors as much as they are not as strong in clinical skills.
@georgesamy4923 Жыл бұрын
Many people come Italy for treating and it produce fantastic doctors amazing and has excellent healthcare outcomes. She says understand well that you have a high theoretical knowledge meaning you attend clinics but you don't try it by your hand you just see what doctor do . After graduation you will gain experience by applying what you have studied in theory and by this system it produced some of the best doctor the world has ever seen , that is the reality.
