-Great content ... !!! -In my IT service time long before formally studying networks, back in the 90s I remember configuring a lot of pop3 and SMNP in netscape for user when installing old internet providers with 56kbps (text in cel LOL) modem access to client before broadband . -It is very cool to study the communication of the protocols in depth and small things that always come to mind in the studies, TCP in Unicast, and to see the switch receiving from a single location and by arp it forwards to just one location, responds only to the correct unicast address. -Thanks for the knowledge .... !!
@justarando66934 жыл бұрын
Well, nowadays it is mostly IMAP but pop3 is still supported. BTW, are you sure that it was 55 and not 56kbps? :P
@educastellini4 жыл бұрын
@@justarando6693 -I was typing on the phone a classical "typo" and type 55 not 56kbps, but I alredy to use 9,600kbps modem, faxmodem... LOL -But IMAP is not nowadays, it was already at that time, just not common in small ISPs, because the server was more difficult to configure in that time. -But the "netscape" of the 90s could already choose between one protocol to receipt (pop or imap), nowadays clients even probe the protocols installed to configure them. -Today, any raspberry makes all email servers.
@justarando66934 жыл бұрын
@@educastellini Yeah, it is super easy for clients to setup but from a server perspective there is a lot more to look for. If you want GPG, autocheck for spoofed email et cetera you have a bit more work to do :P. Still, it is crazy to think that you can do all of this and more on a 5$ computer that is a size of a credit card.

great video. I wish you can mention names in all video like what you jus did with POP3. Because I watched your recent video you posted about APIs. I didn't know what the abbreviation of APIs stands for. And you guys went all the way you never talk about it. So I had to go Google it to understand what exactly are APIs!. But none the less great video as always

How to find out to which ip is malware speaking using wireshark in an infected PC? Thanks for bringing awesome, exciting, best, superb content, love you david 😍😍
@justarando66934 жыл бұрын
You would have to check which ip addresses are "legit" and which are not. It will be tedious because sometimes C&C servers are hosted on a server that was exploited too. You can find a list of *known* C&C ip addresses on the internet with ease (for example IBM have one) but IMHO you should just purge that malware from the machine.

What do i put in the incoming/outgoing mail server?
@nonegiven4 жыл бұрын
Is there a difference between checking emails using a desktop program and checking emails on a web browser? ie, when you open up a browser for hotmail or yahoo or something, Im assuming that does not use pop3 to retrieve email? Or is that still done on the companies servers from mail server to web server? Whereas If you had an email program is it then that you use pop3 to retrieve emails off of a server yourself? And is it the same for smtp when sending? Thanks for all your videos, the udemy course is huge!
@YannickDP8 ай бұрын
Probably a dumb question, but in this demonstration you are telling the PC to go and "receive" (or retrieve) an email so that you can see it in your inbox. Are email-applications in real-life then constantly sending out these type of commands, hoping to fetch emails that have been "send" to them? Or does someone sending an smtp command trigger a pop3 command on the receiver side? Sorry, I'm a newbie in this stuff.
