Excellent video. I've also found in our foursome guys wasted too much time asking "in or out" for the flag, when putting. With our mediocre golf, in most scenarios it doesn't seem to make too much difference, except in cases like an extreme downhill putt, leaving it in. Thanks again.

It's quite rare for me to suffer from slow play in my area, maybe I'm just lucky lol. One thing I have seen in the past though that you didn't mention was people waiting to hit when the group ahead of them is miles away. Basically it's about people not being realistic about their level of play but it is a source of slow play.

Actually, I did talk about being ready when the group is out of range. It's hard to predict how far someone is capable of hitting it. I've seen golfers that shoot in the 100s hit some pretty long drives.

I hear you, but “level of-play” sometimes correlates more with consistency than maximum distance. Trust me, few things are more embarrassing for me, as an 18 handicap, than hitting an ugly duck-hook after waiting for a group that is 250 off the tee to move - except dropping a drive right over their cart, which I a more than capable of doing. Also, if you are-playing efficient golf, your group is going to catch up with the group ahead again very quickly, so there really should not be much lost time from waiting once in awhile.

Outstanding video, should be required viewing at the courses around my area. Another suggestion is to play the tees you can handle. Nothing worse than getting stuck behind four guys who are playing tees too long for their ability, and so are over swinging and spraying shots all over the place.

I think if you follow all this advice you can keep up if you play the wrong tees. The key is hitting in less than 30 seconds and not looking for golf balls. Thank you!

I know things depends on each golf course a person plays but the one I play at doesn't have "tee" times. Advice I would add is that if you are "slow" playing, be courteous if there is a group behind you "faster" and let them play through. ErvinC. Thanks for the video mistah short hitter. I play with with someone who does 5-6 fast practice swings to get the feel of the turf and then duffs it. I would say,"Those practice swings helped a ton." I constantly have to tell my playing partners, "If you are ready, go." Also, reading greens; had a guy walk around and read the greens for up to 5 minutes just to miss the putts. That was a 4 and a half hour round.

Great tips. I think I have played with players that had most of those examples once… then I find new playing partners lol. One additional tip for faster play is play the right tees. You will have more fun and not need an additional 20 shots to reach unrealistic yardages for many.

I walk most times, what I see is that when everyone gets to the first ball they all stop and then they all walk to the next, I like to walk to my ball and stand off to the side so I am ready to go once he/she has hit.👍🏌️‍♂️🇨🇦

Great video. I would go a few steps further. Speaking from personal experience and for someone who just started playing during Covid. I started my golf journey playing Par 3 courses. First a local course with mats and then moved onto par 3 courses with carts. You can still walk but carts are more fun. Anyways, myself and group of friends did this because we did not want to embarrass ourselves that badly before moving up to play the longer courses. Ojt philosophy was to at least be good at the short game and decent enough eith our irons. Too often do i see people playing thay havent a clue how to hit any club in the bag. Respect the game. Get lessons or play a par 3 course and then try your hand at thr longer courses. You will have more fun when you do.

@@mistahshorthitter for sure it happens. I'm just saying if you can start at a Par 3 course you should. If you rarely play and arent that good play best ball. It's never fun when your standing at a tee box watching the group in front of you for 15 minutes get the ball to the 150 mark on a short par 4.

@vega21 That's definitely slow. If you only take 30 seconds to hit, you should be able to play faster than that unless you're looking for balls or talking between shots. I go more by pace than ability. If you can play 18 holes in 4 hours, I don't care if you shoot 150.

Actually yesterday in the proshop..its 12:12. People come in, say "Hi, checking in, we have a 12:22 tee time" then oh we're waiting on our 4th." Love the 4 practice swings... by the time the reach 18 theyve swung 300 times. No wonder they're tired

I am an American living in Austria. A full course full of 4-somes and 3-somes rarely takes longer than 3 1/2 hours. Virtually nobody here rides a cart, only people who otherwise would not be able to play. Everybody plays ready golf. And believe me Austrians are not better golfers than Americans, there are duffers aplenty here.

Always keep two balls on your person, please! My pet peeve is when a player’s tee shot goes out of bounds and they walk back to get a ball out their bag. I typically toss them my spare and tell them the ball ID.

People playing tee’s that are too long for them is the biggest problem in golf imo they don’t have fun and they make others rounds horrible, whoever named the tee’s “ senior and lady’s” did the game a terrible disservice. I know lady’s that can play from the tips but I don’t know one single man that will play from the red tees , they would get better quicker and enjoy the game so much more and speed things up if they would 🤷‍♂️⛳️

I'm so totally the opposite that people tell me to slow down, lol. I haven't taken a practice swing in over 4 years, I'm usually teeing off before they get off the green. Don't understand people who take 10 practice swings and take 5 minutes to walk back to their cart 5ft away. Great video.
