2:38 "With miles that are similar to what you find in a 4-wheeled vehicle." The established record for an RC36 comes from a reliable report from an English despatch rider (courier) from the early 2000's. He used his '90 VFR750 day in, day out for years as a work vehicle and got 416,000 miles out of it.... He then replaced the engine and got 442,000 miles out of the second engine. And all in the same frame and all from a 750cc V4 that will happily rev to 12K RPM. That's engineering integrity.

So about time they fixed the v4 Remember the vf750??? Shat cams like babies shit err shit. Unreliable piece of shit. The vf1000 wasnt any better. And btw, an engine that is in constant use, running all day suffers less wear overall. Its frequent start up and shut down that kills engines.

Over fifty years I’ve been fortunate enough to ride many bikes over many miles. In my not so humble opinion, the Honda VFR has one of the best internal combustion engines ever produced, it has character, reliability and - other than the cost of valve adjustments - isn’t ridiculously expensive. Once obtained, it’s a hard bike to get rid of and most who sell them, regret it. I certainly don’t regret keeping mine!

This was one of the video´s that finally convinced my , to buy a RC36. This second winter with the C-19 crap , got me so frustrated and grumpy, that I was searching the net for all kinds of vehicles, just to bring change into my life come spring time. I even looked at choppers(!) like a Honda CMX450. I thought "maybe that is good for my nerves"... Yesterday I went into the garage and installed a fresh battery into my shiny black 1990 RC36 , that I´ve stored for 6 months and hit the button: bam...it was there , like it couldn´t wait. I drove around for 2 hours and it was like psychotherapy...What a perfect bike. The roar , the handling, the solidity due to the weight, makes it such an awesome cruiser. I used to spent 5 years racing on trackdays every other weekend all over Europe and mostly on Suzuki GSXR 1000´s with 170+HP. I drove them through the German countryside and went 300 on the autobahn for so long that it became almost boring. My car at that time was the famous Honda S2000, which I had a used MY00 first and a new one MY08 later. These cars are not outright fast, but they feel fast and drive in a very exiting manner. The sound of it , makes you feel like driving a full blown race car. Same thing with the RC36: It is not really a fast bike, but the way it rides creates so much confidence, that you can squeeze every performance out of it effortlessly, without having to be Valentino Rossi. On top of it, the noises it makes, gives you the impression of riding a Ducati Panigale...it really is a fascinating mixture.

Yea. The VFR is a classic. You have to ride one to completely understand what all the hype is all about. I bought a nc24 in my 30s and rode the hell out of it. Got married and sold it and then bought a VFR800Fi. Still have it. Only trouble was the rectifier. I replaced it with a Yamaha one that is much bigger and has plenty of heat sink to keep things cool. Other than that part, it is 100% Honda. Last year I got a 1995NC30 for my son. 110kmh in 1st gear. That is completely nuts. If you can get one, get it. You wont be sorry.

Many people will stick with the stock rear tire size of 170/60r17 for a 1990-1993. Some people like myself will go to the 180/55r17. This is the largest/widest rear tire you can put under it. Some people will say that the larger tire will downgrade the "flickability" of the bike. I've run both tire sizes back and forth, and as they wear out, I can tell you it is true, but barely noticeable. As you flatten out the 170/60 towards the end of its life, putting on a brand new 180/55 will have great improvement at first. But as the 180/55 flattens out over time, you begin to notice it. That being said, it hasn't stopped me or hindered me in any way. I notice it because of how long I have owned the bike and know the difference between the two different tire sizes because I've switched back and forth. And again, I prefer a brand new 180/55zr17 on the rear and a stock size 120/70-r17 in the front. Change the rear between 3k to 5k miles and I don't think you'll really notice a difference in "flickability" with the larger tire, but you will notice an improvement in grip

I had an 89 VFR. It ate 4 regulators but other than that it was fault free. When I bought it, it was nicely ran in @ 40k. By the time she finally died having embedded herself into the side of a Volvo she had 289k on her. Miles, not Kilometers. That pretty much says it all...I miss that bike 15 years on.

My first big bike was a vfr750 when I was 18, I wish I still had one. The only bike I've ever found with the same build quality is the ZRX i have now.

I don’t think it was meant to be the same thing. The interceptor was a freeway bike. This is one of my favorite years in the white. It’s an awesome looking bike. The nice thing about these as you can ride them for a long time because they were very comfortable and you’re riding position was reasonable.

Also one thing that owners don't like is hot frame and heat in the summer time.

Checkout the articles on the English dispatch riders who were getting 400000 miles with only a head gasket replacement. Currently I'm looking for a very early model, 1984 or 85 VF1000F or VF1000R; also looking for another 86 VFR750 clapper to put my race prepped 750 engine in for some vintage racing.

I love the vrf any yr. Stiffen up the suspension and they are road beats!
