If you have a decent lathe ( colchester triumph or similar ) you can easily hold a dimension of .1mm if you just make sure to always wind back to account for the backlash. For supertight tolerances adjust the cross slide to 3 degrees and just use trig calculation. 10 years + running a manual lathes

You forgot to point out that the indicator needs to be parallel to the axis. I noticed that on your videos the DTI is not perfectly parallel with the axis. I know it is only going to make a small difference but precision is what we are talking about on any machine.
