Why is there a copyright claim on my church livestream?

What I have found also works, is not sending the audio from recordings, straight to the stream on the mixer but rather let it be picked up by the crowd microphones, the added white noise does help mostly.

We have CCLI and do everything live but have received claims that we are playing a music recording of so and so when it is just our own audio I mix it down live to have the best possible sound.

I've even had a guests own label copyright claim and I'm like "that's them! youtube"

Are you sure the claim is for a master recording? Or is the claim just for the cover of the song?

2 of the last 4 weeks Facebook blocked our live stream which included our worship team performing worship music. All live, no backing tracks or anything. Anyone else had this? The strike says 54 seconds are claimed by Warner music group.

Oh my! Thank you for the info regarding these copyright claims I've been getting. I'm a Pastor of a small but growing Church, and recently, since covid we've been streaming our services. We've been getting these copyright claim notices almost every weekend, and I'm getting frustrated to the point that I feel I need to do some drastic action like cutting off KZbin altogether. We are paying for the CCLI+ licensing, and also repeatedly posting the proper way to show the licensing # during the song. I hardly, if any, get copyright claims for the same videos on Facebook, but seems all the time with KZbin. I even started "ONLY" uploading the videos to KZbin unlisted, without them being posted anywhere yet, and I still get these copyright claims. Ugh! Now, since you stated the copyright claim notices are different from copyright strikes, and they might be putting ads in the video when the 'offending' music is playing. I really don't mind that at all. I want these artists to be recognized and even paid. Thank you for such a splendid video, and I love the way you put God in your videos. In His service, Pastor Lloyd

I have on a few occasions seen videos from a copyright holder detailing how their own video of them performing their own music was taken down by youtube because of a copyright claim. Has anyone here had that happen to them, or streamed a service with a guest performer and their performance was flagged when they were performing their own copyrighted song(s)? If yes how did you resolve the issue?

Unfortunately it's a bit broken. I have had several church have their livestream muted on Facebook while using my songs in their services, which they have full permission to use and I own all rights to. I also have several random rights holders who are making money off of my versions of public domain hymns on KZbin (which seems like it should be illegal?) because they dismissed my dispute and I did not want to file an appeal because a copyright strike on a livestream suspends your livestream capabilities for 90 days. So your are welcome random copyright holders, you get to make money on songs you don't own. I'm not bitter at all.... but i love the "testing" tip at the end of your video

The churches I go to are small, really small, and it's never been a problem. All but one of those play traditional hymns, otherwise they all avoid the CCM stuff like the plague. We NEVER play Vineyard, or any of that stuff. This time of year we'll do Don Francisco- He's Alive and that's it. Everything else directly from the hymnal.

Interesting. And thanks for the information. We are a small traditional Church, and after a few attempts at LiveStream on KZbin, we went to recording & editing - and uploading it as a higher-quality production for the non-attenders to watch the NEXT SUNDAY. We NEVER use copyright recordings. The thing which I find frustrating is that KZbin, almost every week, will hit with a Copyright claim - which I then DISPUTE - on hymns from 200 years ago - by Charles Wesley. I'm an accomplished organist, and the congregation are our "singers". 2 weeks ago - they claimed that a hymn tune written in the 1400s was "found to BE copyright" - not suspected, but "FOUND". At last tally, in just over 12 months since COVID-19 restrictions, I've had close to 160 traditional hymns hit by KZbin - and EVERY one has dropped off after 30 days when I disputed them. Just a time-waster. I think about 5 or 6 were actually copyright - and we advised the CCLI licence - again, they dropped off after 30 days. But we did live-stream this week, for a Funeral - with 5 traditional hymns selected by the 94yr old person - accompanied by Pipe Organ. And I thought it was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING that they cut the AUDIO after about 15 minutes - because they "FOUND" that our first hymn - written 146 years ago was COPYRIGHT. Very wrong, but for family who were unable to attend, and family overseas, it was just heartbreaking that KZbin did that. Fortunately, we had the 2 camera and an audio recording, and I rushed an edit and had it on KZbin by 10pm that night. But KZbin overstepped the mark big-time with that. Maybe we should try FaceBook. The only problem I envisage is that I suspect many of our older and shut-in members probably don't have FaceBook logins - whereas KZbin they can watch without logging in. Maybe it's possible for them to see them if we mark them PUBLIC.

Not to the subject in the matter but I'm looking for tips on how to properly edit a sermon that will be a seperate sound-only mix? For example proper compression, gate, "de-esser" etc.

When doing video editing with just a spoken-word audio track, I typically add a touch of compression or limiter just to shave off some of the peaks and get the overall volume a bit higher. I probably don't reduce any more than 5 db on the loudest peaks. I'd only add a de-esser if I felt like a specific audio clip needed it.
