This was fantastic, one of the best technical pitching interviews I've ever watched. None of the usual supposedly "human interest" nonsense about life in the big leagues, etc., but getting dirty in the complexities of one guy's pitching mechanics. Awesome, awesome stuff. This Dodgers fan will definitely be following Soroka and looking at the things he was talking about.

Humility is always refreshing at this level. He even seemed embarrassed at the end of the interview. I like this guy. His dad too.

Mike soroka has 3/4 arm slot, so the ball is naturally going to move armside, but what's really incredible is that he doesn't just get side-to-side movement; He also gets sink to the ball.

You have a face for Radio !! All kidding aside this was an excellent video on throwing mechanics.. I'm a catcher but their is A Lot of teachable stuff here.. Paid attention through out this video to be able pass along to the young kids that my Brother and I coach here in Orlando Fla , coaching a 8U Travel team. And always say to my brother you can NEVER Have enough pitching on our team. And this was a great video to watch and RE-Watch to pass along to our young players. This kid has a long future in the BIGS, NO Dout in my mind. Thanks for the video can't wait to see more !!

I taught the Braves their new slider May 2018, Brandon McCarthy confirmed he tried my slider suggestion June 2 2018 vs Nat's, if you type in Roger Beshens Brandon McCarthy on google and click images you can see the message. Biddle whiffed 8 in 3 IP that same June 2 game and Folty whiffed 11 the night before with this "football" slider. The Pirates know me well, in May 2018 I told Glasnow to grip it like a fastball, on center grip, not off center, throw it like a football, stiff wrist all the way. Glasnow admits he throws a slider but calls it a curve so others don't ask him. Taillon, Crick, Musgrove, Kuhl followed. Throw it like a football, Stiff wrist using a 2 or 4 seam fastball grip. The beauty of this football slider is command is simple compared to a off center traditional slider. The stiff wrist makes it break later. I had so many ML pitchers use it in May June 2018 I named it Football Slider on you tube. You tube or google football slider, Roger Beshens see messages from ML Pitchers.

I had to stop at 1310 to comment. Wish I'd seen this 2 years ago. I've been teaching my son to get as far down that rubber as possible and I just realized(2 days ago) that it isn't for every one. He needs to stay a little taller to get HIS proper mechanics. He's also been working on a 2 seam /sinker and I think this will help. Great video!...... And I'll be looking for this young man this season!

Birdie is great. Lol 😂 so enthusiastic and loves the game. You can tell he genuinely loves talking about it and learning about it. He played pro ball but stands in admiration when he sees greatness. Love it. Soroka is a class act. Ridiculous stuff, built like a tank and has the absolute best possible attitude. He’s going to come back stronger than ever. Mark my words.

I learned the exact same grip for my first one, too. Everyone I pitched against I always overheard them complaining that my fastballs dropped at the last moment. Come to find out my fastball was a sinker and I never knew until around high school. It treated me well, tho! Haha

Any Canadians in here? Is baseball big in Canada or getting bigger? I know it's obviously hockey first and the CFL has been around forever. The bluejays seem to have a good fan base but what about Canada as a whole?

Brian Crawford I’m from Ontario. Baseball grew a little during the Blue Jays 15 and 16 seasons. But I don’t know many other people who play anymore other than my team obviously. Basketball is the next big thing. In the it’s not quite bigger than hockey but it is exploding. Half of my grade plays some level of BBALL or even consistently plays it for fun at the park. Baseball is not getting any bigger. It’s not a game that’s easy to jump into especially if your not grown up with it. I was raised going to jays games and before I started playing rep I was and everyone I played with was familiar with players, teams and was playing mlb the show. All my friends who played for fun couldn’t get invested in the game and quit after pitched machines because the game got too slow for them.

Brian Crawford Other than soccer yeah it’s the easiest. Especially when a kids parents/parent played hockey when growing up, it’s much easier for them to put their kids in basketball than baseball.

No baseball fastball rises... not even Koufax. Its just not falling at the pull of gravity as normal. Softball actually does rise, its not as dense, more surface area + spin actually causes it to rise.

Here's a good idea: Let 21 year old Braves' phenom teach young children how to throw a disgusting, unfair, Zack Britton-like sinker that produces a 70% ground ball rate that absolutely eats up hitters, Mike Soroka, there are children watching this sport, calm down!!! (Foolish Baseball reference)
