This video is a few years old so I have all Tig pressure tickets now. It's definitely my favorite welding process I'm hoping to do it a lot more.

That's good to practice with both hands like that brother.

Cool video. Keep up the good work. When feeding your puddle keep the filler rod closer this will keep your bead even. Plus it's a good habit to form when starting. Such a calm and sophisticated form of welding.

Hey cool video ! Keep up the good practice dude! I got a question for you. I always see boilermakers free hand on pipe. I have been tiging pipe for about 4 years and walked the cup on pretty much all of it. Is walking the cup not allowed? Just asking cause i'm going to head up to the next sign up at the local boilermakers hall and don't want to be surprised on any weld tests if I get in lol.

Eugene Cosentino on headers and 6” pipe we walked the cup. On tubes We never walk the cup. I asked the same question and I was told that a lot of our tig welding is done on small diameter tube in tight spaces where you wouldn’t be able to walk the cup so you learn to free hand everything. Also we always use flex head small tig torches with small cups to fit around everything and walking the cup with them is super hard! If you watch any of weld tubes tutorials on boiler tig test they also free had everything.

Thank you for the quick reply! I will have to check out some of those videos you were talking about. I have free handed some small stuff like 1/2" and 3/4 " so it shouldnt be too hard to brush up on that. The mirror welding will be a whole new thing for me though lol Thanks again man and keep up with the practice! I find it easier to use the lay wire technique other than dabbing the small stuff. That with a tight arc will make the weld lay in real nice. Hard to bust on a x ray doing that.
