This maneuver should be done only in a very empty parking lot, and when there are two small islands that can be encircled with the vehicle.
These “crazy eights” are important because they give the student a literal grasp on the wheel and how it can be used.
The student learns that the vehicle will only do what the student engages it for, and it will always do exactly what the student directs it to do through the steering wheel and the Excelerator and gas pedals.
After completing the crazy eights course, the level of proficiency of most students gains by leaps and bounds.
All students should be comfortable making these turns when necessary, because there are countless situations in which they will eventually need to be applied.
