When they're little their ears droop, as they get older they don't :) Nothing to worry about, just very cute!

It looks awfully cute and going up is easier to train with a corgi puppy, it doesn't last however when they start to grow in length. My corgi made it very clear "I don't do stairs!" as she grew her legs were far to short and her length was too great for conventional residential stairs. She can do without any hesitation commercial steps which are longer and lower, how ever if there is a ramp she will always use it. You have to be patient with corgis and steps, if they won't use them they have a reason and injuries can result if you try otherwise.

This is exactly what my corgi does. He can go up stairs but not down then. If he starts to go down the stairs and gets frustrated, he'll just run all the way back up.

I'm pretty sure it is reccomended that they not use stairs much, due to back problems, I think? All I know is I've heard that stairs should be avoided, it does make sense with the legs :)
@tncorgi923 жыл бұрын
If it's not constantly going up and down stairs, it should be fine. Jumping off furniture is the big no-no. Plus keep their weight down.

All mountain climbers know there is a point of no return once you start climbing up 🧗♀️. It’s easy to climb up but not even the best mountain climbers can go back down without being tied off and repelling down the mountain with ropes. Same concept applies for the puppy. Once he gets older and legs get a few inches longer he’ll be able to go back down. He’s too little and too short for now. No amount of “doggy biscuits” are going to change that for now.

I hate to see corgi pups without a tail :( So sad...
@theclubbingseal825610 жыл бұрын
Ffs, dont comment on these when you barely know about dogs, Corgi's are naturally born without a tail naturally. The reason why they chopped their tails, and why most of em are born without a tail was because they were used to herd cows, so the corgi wouldnt get hurt by the cow biting/walking onto its tail
@yannara10 жыл бұрын
TheClubbing Seal I have a corgi on my own, we live in Finland and there is almost none corgies here without tails. I know that being without a tail is a security reason for herding cows. But, how many corgies are really used herding anymore? I see that most of them are home animals. There is stories, when puppies born with tail, but before giving them away, growers cuts they tails because of keeping the old line. I don´t approve that.
@theclubbingseal825610 жыл бұрын
It's just come with the race, you should know this. barely anyone dock the tails, but it just stays in the genetics.
@BabePandahh10 жыл бұрын
yannara There are two breeds of corgis, the pembroke corgis which where breed to not have a tail, and the cardigan corgi (the one that you have) which did not have the trait (in this case a tail) genetically eliminated. You'd say such things when you are ignorant towards how things work. Though corgis used to be docks (so do sheeps and other livestock), modern day pembroke corgis have naturally bobbed tails
@yannara10 жыл бұрын
In Finland, there is almost none corgies without a tail (I go to shows and meetings). Both pembroke and cardigan always have tails here. I heard a rumor of USA, that there sellers do cut tails only because to sell the "standard" corgi to the owner, which makes me sick. But I googled around this and seems that world wide corgies are still cut and it seems to fine with people so I rest my case. Seriously, how many still chaising cows for living of all corgies in a world? But it makes me sad that with different dog race there always some standards required which really makes the race sick - like German Shepard with its lower back or the bulldogs which are not capable to breathe well or give birth naturally.

walking stairs is not good for their backs
@tncorgi923 жыл бұрын
Only if they are up and down stairs a LOT. Keeping them at a trim weight is more important. I've had 2 Corgis with back or hip issues, one was hereditary and the other we rescued at age 7 and didn't know its history.
