That took a lot of guts. Mrs. Ortega's course includes 350 cases to code at NO extra charge. During an interview, I would talk about my very comprehensive education which included 350 cases to code ranging from xxx to xxx. The benefit of this exposed any area of weakness for further review. I was then confident in my understanding of xxx. For example...blah, blah, blah. Honesty is always the best policy!

Lori..you should not be going through this hard time at all. You worked way too hard and deserve way better. Your school didnt give you enough guidance so none of this is your fault whatsoever. Please watch this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKC1Y5qGhture5Y and if you need me for any more coaching or guidance you can get me directly on the gotocoders forum! Rooting for you love!

The thing I hate about Practicode is I have to catch their proofreading errors. I started keeping a notebook of them but I couldn't really send them to anybody or nobody cared. Typos drive me crazy.
@MedicalCodingAcademy3 жыл бұрын
What's unfortunate is that nobody cared to fix them. I can understand if there are errors, not even the editors can catch everything but when it gets called to your attention, most definitely fix it!

I have a CBCS with the National Healthcareer Association and I’m having a hard time finding a job. I wondering if I should join the AAPC for practicode but may have to take their CPC test to gain CPC-A certification. I’m so frustrated 😔

HI doll. The CPC is known as the golden standard credential for professional medical coding. Knowing you are this frustrated, I am all the more reason to all but beg you to highly consider our very affordable program at Medicalcodingacademy.org. Check out the 600 plus reviews on google, facebook, youtube and even the BBB.org In the meantime, I invite you to come check us out on the Facebook "Go To Codders" forum. it will give you an opportunity to network and check with current students. Just click the link and I'll see you there!

Wise move here my dear..instead learn how to get the employers to bring you in for the interview and learn how to get hired without experience..way to go!!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKC1Y5qGhture5Y

I'm going to take your advice. I just got my cpc-a credential, and i's going to not do the practicode that I unfortunately bought with my package thru aapc. You make a lot of sense about practicode not having the correct real world experience. A lot of what you mentioned, I did not have any idea of what they would have asked for had I gotten my A removed and applied for an interview.

I really appreciated your suggestions for how to present the resume in a unique way but I still have one question. If you haven't worked in the field yet how can you tell your prospective employer about how good you were at your previous jobs? Isn't that the problem we face if we don't have experience? We have nothing to tell the interviewer regarding how productive we will be. A year ago before the Pandemic hit I had several interviews which seemed to go well but I obviously didn't get any of those jobs. Then they stopped hiring anyone and laid a lot of the coders they had already off and the rest just worked from home. Hopefully sometime this year they will return to using their coding building and they have to return to that facility if they are going to train new hires.

Thank you so much Mrs. Ortega to post this video to educate me about practicode. I passed my CPC exam last July. I have been looking for coding jobs in the past few months, not even get an interview. Now I know what I am going to do. I am going to follow the guidelines of your last video to focus on looking for coding job. I actually started doing MCA 350 questions by not looking at the multiple choices last week. It’s not only help to refresh my memory but also help me to fully understand the codes and coding guidelines. Thank you so much Mrs . Ortega, you are the best teacher and truly care about your students. I am looking forward the CPB online class from you in the near future.

Will any medical coding schooling qualify for that one year that counts towards the 80 hrs?

Yes as long as that school is licensed through their state..thats the big thing to research! Medical Coding Academy is licensed with Texas Workers Commission...they're the highest level of accreditation!

I wish they would release stats like that. I know the MCA students get jobs..some in one month and some take up to 4 months but they all get hired as coders..we are hard core about making sure they find employment! Thank you for your feedback love!

Practicode is more education you should have had while in school, indeed. In stead, AAPC separated it from the actual course to make more money for themselves and still leave you hard and dry at the end. I say It's all money-making. I am living proof of the corn- man schools 😕. The instructor is so right! I regretted so much but! Had I known Medical Coding Academy before being deceived, I would have been a successful coder now.

The example in the video can't happen if the job applicant is being honest. Practicode only counts for 1 year toward removing the "A" designation. You need two years to remove it, so you'd still be entering the industry as CPC-A after completing Practicode.
@MedicalCodingAcademy2 жыл бұрын
Thats exactly right love ..its all about honesty..dont get the A removed unless you have actual hands on coding experience...this is how to prevent the situation seen in the video...Great insight!!

If only I had seen THIS video before purchasing the AAPC CPC package INCLUDING Practicode! As a retired clinician, I did a lot of coding and insurance work, but not as my primary job. I thought Practicode would put me over the top of candidates as I would get to remove the "A" quickly. I can see how this may not be so, even for someone with my prior education and experience. The program itself is problematic for me since the clinic notes and operative reports have been adulterated with their own inputs, ie. "the doctor conferred with specialists", 'the doctor reviewed the medications", etc., data deletions/omissions, typos. Not real world and every time I can tell the notes have been changed, it drives me nuts! And don't even get me started on the platform itself- slow, won't load, submits answers while I'm still coding the case, marks my responses wrong- even when the rationales given match my own answers. So frustrating. I was going to get my "A" removed before interviewing- but now I'm headed over to your videos on how to interview without recent experience! Thanks for your perspective and for the guts to get out there and tell it like it is!

Pam your feedback on this is INVALUABLE. Finally someone has the courage to document the TRUTH. If i could hug you right now I would!!!! Rare on the people on this planet that stick up and stand up for what they believe in. Gems are the people on the planet who hurry ahead of everyone else in order to try and help them not fall prey to the traps crooked people of the world unfortunately set. You my dear are uncommon ...a rare beauty...God bless you!!
