Hi ive started playing bass a few weeks ago, while i get all the roots and their fourths part, what exactly were you doing in that groove part? Improvising in some way or how was that structured?

Look up the keys. Key signatures move in 4ths in one direction and 5ths in the opposite. Look for a bass grimoire for a basic reference and then learn to play all of the major modes over all 30 keys. There are 30 but you can start by thinking of them as 12 to make it easier to digest. Then learn the associated chords with each mode and practice arpeggios in musical patterns over the key cycle and you will start to sound fully legit in no time. It will help you to hear what musicians a you admire are doing. Join a band outside of your comfort zone so you can expand your vocabulary and apply what you learned with other musicians. Good luck!

Amazing. Congrats for starting playing the bass guitar, it is great fun, I am sure you will have fun. That was a simple pentatonic lick (the exactly 5 pentatonic notes in order), adding some rhythm on it and played over the 12 keys. Same lick in 12 keys! You can do that with any technical material while practicing.
