One of the best song intros EVER! Beautiful piano that twists & turns into an out-of-tune guitar beast!! 🐍”ssss” So sinister & so good!! 😱Freddie’s choice of lyrics is definitely diss-worthy, no doubt! It’s about Queen’s former manager Norman Sheffield, who mismanaged their finances! Before Sheffield died, he wrote a book called Life On Two Legs. 🦵🦵
@ellet65605 ай бұрын
I love the intro. Freddie’s piano indicates a ponderance of the situation, then the Boom of realizing what’s been going on. It then builds into a frenetic anger that, abruptly, leads to a solution. Kiss my ass goodbye, Norm!

If you listen closely to the intro, you can hear John torturing a Double Bass.

Hahhaaa I just love how Brian's guitar is hissing, growling, rattling and spitting fire ... just as Freddie's lyrics .... He wanted the song to be as vicious as possible... Their third album Sheer Heart Attack was a huge success but Queen were broke and in debt, band members were living in harsh conditions: Brian in a fungus infested bedsit, Freddie and his girlfriend Mary in a damp apartment, Roger was told not to break drumsticks, John was denied a loan to a down payment for a modest house he wanted to buy for him and his bride ... At the same time their manager bought a second Rolls Royce ...😮 John eventually broke the contract and lawyer Jim Beach managed to get Queen out of that crapy contract, they got Elton John's manager Jim Reid as their new manager and they produced their best album ever, A Night At The Opera, with legendary Bohemian Rhapsody... 😅 Message delivered: Don't mess with Queen, especially their youngest member (John) because his oldest brother (Freddie) along with other brothers (Brian and Roger) will come after you ...😂

They were truly a brotherhood. RIP, Freddie and, in a different way, John.

John wanted to by a house *right then* rather than wait, because his bride was pregnant with their first child. The bedsit they’d been living in was not going to be feasible with a baby. (Good thing John forced the issue and finally got to buy a house - that baby was just the first…he and his wife ended up having SIX kids. )

Norman Sheffield was their manager in the early days…a Scrooge!…John asked him for money to buy a house…Norman refused so John broke the contract…Freddie said that it was John that saved the band (the baby of the band😂)….so when Freddie turns his arse to the audience to remind Norman of what he missed out on…the audience know what it’s about and cheer🤩

This song is why Freddie always bent over each performance for quite awhile, maybe till the end of his touring, even at Kiev Aid, to remind their old manager of what he did and what he lost by mistreating and cheating them, actually doing them a favor in the long run, but they were surely cheated the first 3-4 albums they created and toured nonstop for for years. They almost had to break up, they had no money, before their 5th album, with Bohemian Rhapsody, A Night At The Opera.And people learned not to piss off Freddie, lol. Freddie was sick kind and generous, a great person, but don’t do him wrong. I admire that .

Haha! Freddie didn’t hold back. The funny thing is if Sheffield hadn’t sued Queen no one would have known who the song was about. Freddie was pretty upset that the Manager and Trident wouldn’t give money to John Deacon for a down payment on a house and at the same time Roger saw all the executives driving new Rolls Royces. Meanwhile the band members were living in studio apartments and trying to make ends meet.
@TheWalrusWasPaul234 ай бұрын
They even told Roger to not break any drum sticks because they “couldn’t afford” new sticks… Yeah right

Omg THANKS I LOVE 70’s Queen 👑 they was more rock-band then. Incredible they was fenamonal as they always was. So much to react too. Stone called crazy, Orge Battle, March of the black Queen, Killer Queen, ‘39, Stay yourself alive, In the lap of the God’s, and many, many more…..and Freddie is sooo sexy is possible to be 😅 Death on two legs was written by Freddie about theyre first manager, they nearly dont get any money from him, he took it all himself, suddenly Freddie saw the brother to manager in a knew Roll Roys…..then he understud! He get so angry and crazy he wrothe this song about him. Brian dont think they should play it, he think they come to be sued, and they did. The manager get fired and in came John Reid, manager to Elton John, he stay with Queen for many years. Freddie was 30 years in -76. You have ask how old he was in some songs. He was the oldest member, John Deacon «Deacy» basplayer was the youngest. I have been a huge Queen-fan seens -77. You are a good reacter 😊🎉

Freddie said it: "I was changing lyrics every day, trying to get it as vicious as possible. I was a demon for a few days." I can imagine that! The band members had no money, but even worse they were in debts up to their necks. When John Reid and Jim Beach (the band's lawyer later their manager) made them off the Trident contract, they had to pay 100 000 pounds to the Trident who also got 1 pence after all sold records of the next 6 albums released.
