does binding energy exist in case of hydrogen atom it having only one proton if not then its nucleus should possess no mass defect and as such which force keeps it intact?
@introvert18226 жыл бұрын
Interesting !
@pulkityadav11746 жыл бұрын
Ur answer lies in ur question itself u said it only have one proton so brother it doesn't face repulsion from any other proton so it don't require a neutron to bind the nucleus

sir why can't we obtain the binding energy of the nucleus of oxygen simply by multiplying the mass defect obtained with c^2?? and why did u multiply the mass defect with the amu energy?? is there any specific reason behind it?? sir pls answer this..
@mikeandersonlambo10036 жыл бұрын
If it were like that,then the si unit of energy would have been in joules and would have been a big number.so for sake of simplicity since we had already found out the Ben for 1 amu in mev so we just had to multiply it by the mass defect.

sir why we cannot use laser for attaining high temperature?
@Siddeo8 жыл бұрын
+Pradeep Kshetrapal I find a fallacy in this argument.Lasers are used for cooling as well as heating.Heat is in the infrared region because the the infrared frequency is in the same range as the freuquecy of electronic gaps in atoms in objects around us. Different types of lasers can be made to operate in visible,infrared and ultraviolet.In lasers a resonant cavity traps the photons and creates an intense and coherent beam of light. For cooling the energy of the atom is decreased by firing a laser with frequency slightly lower than the transistion frequency of the atom.This slows the atom when it is moving towards the beam due to doppler effect of slight frequency increase.At one specific velocity the frequency of laser matches that of atom and the photon is absorbed and then emitted in random direction.Repetition of this process over and over again makes the atoms slower and thus cooler system like Bose Einstein Condensate. For heating from lasers,intense beams of lasers with much higher energy per unit area than visible light are used.This intense laser beam increases the temperature and makes fusion possible.Naturally in stars fusion is possible near the core because of the intense pressure and heat in the plasma lobe in stars.We try to replicate such conditions on Earth in a controlled manner using lasers.But the problem is,more energy is required to confine the fusing atoms than the energy released from controlled fusion.So the controlled fusion for energy production is not possible right now. Highly intense beam of lasers do heat objects and for used for cutting metals.Whereas in laser surgery the intensity of lasers is so low but frequency is sufficiently high to make them penetrating.So only a single tissue is cut without harming neighbouring ones. So lasers are used heating,cooling,large scale cutting,small scale surgeries,optical communication etc In the future we may have laser pathways performing compuations in computers because they have very less switching times and thus result in faster binary calculations in computers. Highly coherent,highly monochromatic,interference,diffraction and high immune from unwanted background radiation make lasers useful in diverse fields..
