This video was shot and produced by Valkyr Productions. In May of 2018 Jeremy and Nima came out to Dargle to spend a couple of days talking about cross-Africa trips and old Alfa Romeos. This is the result.
This video first appeared on Praemio, Jeremy's KZbin channel specialising in stories of risk and reward. I've reposted it here with his permission as I believe it's something my subscribers would be interested in as well.

My first love living in Port Shepstone SA was driving a friends Alfa Sprint Veloce, I loved it so much as a young man I would do anything to drive it. When I was 21 then living in the UK my first ever car was an Alfa Romeo GTV6 82 model. I later grew into a Maserati Gransport v8 the Ferrari era car.. and have never lost the love for my first Alfa the GTV6. What you did was incredibly dangerous I admire you as I doubt I could ever have done that especially on my own. ❤ I hope you are enjoying life today as you did then. 22 countries it twice as much as many see in a lifetime.😂 well done. You really do have some beautiful classics around you.. 👍👏👏👏

“I thought I need to do something. Something that’s so difficult and so uncomfortable that any bad part of you that you’re carrying along won’t survive. Let those bad habits and everything burn away.” - Jethro Bronner I’m posting that where I will see it daily. There are lots of channels on KZbin to see HOW to do something. This is one of the few channels that give a glimpse of WHY you should do something difficult just for the love of it. I’m following just as much for the philosophy as for the cars and skills you show us. Thank you! Gavin Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Really great Jethro! I traveled on the road with my band (as lead singer, guitar player, song writer, etc) from when I was 18 until I was 24 with only a few (8 at most) months of off in the middle. I had no apartment for years as I played each week for the whole week in clubs and Hotels. I think I experienced life at such an accelerated rate during those years that my spirit became older than my outward years by a fair bit. I did the touring through Canada and parts of the USA. I really do know what you mean when you say you were not the same person as when you hadn't challenged yourself or thrown fear to the wind and walked on. I firmly hold the beliefs I do now because I had to face many questions we never will until we are forced to and those types of things do that. Thank you! for sharing so candidly, this story!

Touring with a band is something I really wish I had done. If I could go back to when I was in high school I would have started a band and toured around South Africa in the summer. Hopefully I still have some time to start a band.

WOw! I have enjoyed your videos and think what you have done from where you are is amazing. I have traveled and seen things that a lot of folks never would get to see on their own So when I see a young man such as yourself and what an adventure you still have in front of you it's great. I am finishing up restoration on a 1962 Triumph TR3B and my goal is less grand than yours. I am living in Los Angeles but towed the car from Florida here when we moved over here 2300 miles. When I finish (making sure I have plenty of spares) I plan a trip back home to Texas then to Tennessee from where the car from then to Alabama and back to LA. That is going to be my last hurray because I am 74 and still have the itch but the brain is willing but the body is not, ha! So when you do your travels please video them so those of us that still have that itchcan get dome enjoyment out seeing some one like you do it. Appreciate your videos , keep them coming.

Hey Jethro. It is so good seeing a fellow Midlands chap do what I love best....touring and taking in magnificent challenges and experiences. Being on the road and exploring is indeed an absolute joy. I have been taking a BMW E46 330i around S.Africa, but have never thought of taking it overland across Africa...this may just be the inspiration. It would be great to keep in contact. Regards

keruamg You should try going to Namibia or even up to Victoria Falls. There’s loads to see and it’s so easy from SA.

Have you considered repeating the trip at specific intervals to document the changes in the places along the route and yourself over time; similar to the four sisters who had their picture taken every year for forty years

Mate, what you said in the first 20 seconds of this 💚 exactly! 💯 have you read "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance"? If not, i feel intuitively that it's something you'd really get a lot from. So nice to see fully conscious humans being masters of their own development. Beautiful video too mate. Love this car. its honest and sweet. the way an old Alfa should be. Namaste 🙏
