Video is awesome, Great Explaination, Easy to Understand. I do believe that one more thing needs to added to these tutorial videos, that is, If while mentioning the table name and particular attribute, a simple hovering of cursor or any highlight can be done then that would be great. what happens is that it becomes difficult for the listener to catch up with the concepts while looking out for which table and column the tutor is talking about. Very subtle thing but i believe it will improve the attentiveness of the listener. Thanks for the awesome video.

I just watched this video after bookmarking it for some time. It's really well delivered and covers different realistic scenarios, which I found particularly helpful. So thanks a lot to the team. Much appreciated. My only question is regarding the methodology that you recommended for DAX (USERELATIONSHIP) to override the inactive relationship, while using this method, how can you create a slicer/filter based on the inactive relationship (e.g. Ship Date in this example). Is this a scenario where perhaps the multiple Date Tables trumps your recommended approach (DAX approach) or is there a way for this?

I learnt a lot with the video, thank you. One question I have on creating relationships and not merging is: if I have an attribute that I want to see as it was in the point in time when I added the rows to the facts table, would the attribute keep updating for all entries, or just for the new ones? e.g. Client was a Small Business back in March 23, now it has grown and it is a Large business. Would I see the transactions from 2023 as a Small Business, and now transactions will be under Large Business bucket for the same client? I noticed that merging, it only applies again to the new facts added each month, but the downside is that the query gets very slow and heavy really quick.

This is the most detailed and well explained tutorial video on Data Modeling I have watched so far on KZbin. The video quality and sound output is top-notch. One question though... what is the brand name of that microphone you used for this video? I mean that microphone on your left hand-side in this video... I want to go buy the same mic. The sound output is just so good! 😀

Our data model incorporates multiple date dimension tables, each mapped to fact tables based on specific date keys, such as Order Date, Delivery Date, and Processing Date. The primary and most frequently used date dimension is the HistoryDate table.

Great video by all standards. Been looking for data modelling videos and this best explains into detail. However, I have a question. So just wondering if I update the Sales or fact table with new entries every month, will the other dimension tables automatically update on its own or I need to make the change individually in each table? Thank you.
@PragmaticWorks20 күн бұрын
Hello, when you refresh your data model the dimensions will also be updated automatically. In the demo, we built the dimension tables and fact table from the single excel worksheet, when we refresh the power bi model, it will update all tables that are pulling from that worksheet.

Also how to import tables stored in the semantic model LTWN-Modeling Example and delete the Power BI based model in MS fabric?

Hallo. Thanks for the course. Question: In your case Power BI created relationships automatically except for Dim Date. However in My case relationship was created automatically only between Customer and Sales tables. And when I tried to connect manually Geography - Customer and Sales - Product it refused saying it had duplicate zipcode and productID. Shall I remove duplicates?

Hi. Came upon an issue today. In one of my dimensional tables I have a number in a column (let's say the price of the unique item). In the fact table I have many of the same items with a quantity sold column. I then wanted to create a pivot table per item with from the Fact Table the quantity field and from the dimensional table price field. I then wanted to put both these numbers in the Values field of the pivot, but when I wanted to drag the dimensional price value in the value field, it said I had no relationship (although I do have a one to many in the model from dimensional table to Fact table.. I could drag the price column from the dimensional table into the rows, so they will show next to each other, but then you can do no calculation on the price data. Hope this makes sense. The bigger problem would then be what if the price is in the dim table and the quantity in the fact table and then you want to work out the price x quantity?
@ExcelWithChrisАй бұрын
Solved myself. I will use normal Merge into the Fact Table to get price from Dim Table into the Fact Table so I can do calcs in fact table and not get a one to many relationship to drag the field in.
